About this deal

Another nice (and premium) selling point is that the polyurethane leather used for the ear pads and headband has a Nano coating on it. This is resistant to sweat, dirt and general deterioration. I found the headband a little narrow, meaning the top half of the earpads pushed harder on my ears than the bottom half. But apart from that they felt comfy enough. They’re certainly no less comfortable than my HD 25s, which actually apply more pressure on the ears. They just feel a bit different. The bass reflex chambers bring plenty of response on the low end. Because of this, the highs perhaps don’t come through quite as crisply compared to the Sennheisers – but again, it’s down to personal preference. We found that the noise isolation was also very good HDJ-CXs, so no complaints there.

The classic Pioneer headband provides sufficient padding with plenty of elasticity to fit most people, with the right amount of clamping force providing you only have them on your head when you’re monitoring a mix …which is pretty standard for on-ear designs that press against your ears. The ear cups swivel 90 degrees and also rotate slightly on their axis, which is perfect for single-ear listening and positioning them on your head in the mix. Other design functions: They should be well-padded, lightweight and easy to adjust. These are all essential for comfort and extended use/longer DJ sets. You should get an instant answer on whether your application has been successful, though in some rare cases Klarna or V12 may need to look at the application in more detail.

Sufficient bass response: As well as generally being louder, DJ headphones will generate more bass than consumer or studio headphones would. This is necessary for monitoring a DJ mix in noisy environments such as bars & clubs, etc. HDJ-CX is so lightweight you might forget you’re wearing them. Specially designed for absolute comfort and tuned to deliver tight audio with a wide range for mixing and monitoring music in any environment, the new headphones also feature a high level of sound insulation and are built to last.

Comfort-wise, the ear pads are made from nylon and contain memory foam, making them extremely comfortable. For monitoring purposes, the clamping force on your head is also about right (meaning you wouldn’t want them on your ears constantly, same as with all on-ear designs). The headphones come with interchangeable straight and coiled cables as well as a holder for the 1⁄4” plug adapter which you can clip to the cable so you never lose it. A pair of replacement ear pads are also included. The HDJ-CX ‘phones have a surprisingly full sound, with deeper bass than I was expecting, which is a good thing. Pioneer DJ says they go down to 4Hz or something, which is ridiculous as we can’t hear anywhere near that low, but hey. Bottom line: They sound really nice, like bigger headphones. Deliveries will be made subject to the terms and conditions of the courier company. djkit.com will not be held responsible for late deliveries.

You can wear the HDJ-CX headphones for several hours and hardly feel their presence. This supreme level of comfort comes from the brand-new lightweight, ergonomic design. Every tiny detail has been considered, including the wiring in the cable which has been slimmed down to reduce weight, and even the positioning of the curl on the coiled cable which has been moved closer to the plug for greater balance. It’s easy to find a perfect fit thanks to all this, plus a high level of flex in the sturdy, stainless steel headband and adjustable earcups. When you copy something like the HD 25s, you’re going to draw comparisons – and these are definitely a copy, if not exactly the same. Trouble is, it’s like comparing any other turntable with the Technics 1210 Mk2 – something that has proven itself over and over again, its very reliability being its strength. With regards to comfort, they’re surprisingly lightweight, and the large vegan leather cushions and headband both contain memory foam, making them extremely comfortable for extended use (the leather is resistant to sweat). The HDJ-CX headphones by and large look and feel like the HD 25s, with the added advantage of easily detachable cables, plus a choice of coiled or straight cables in the box, and spare pads provided. Plus, they sound good, and are about the same price. The HDJ-CX headphones have a surprisingly full sound, with deeper bass than expected, and a featherlight fit.

In addition to the HDJ-CX headphones themselves, Pioneer DJ include useful accessories that improve their longevity and let you adapt them to different listening contexts. In the box you receive a 3m coiled cable that’s suited for pro DJ and studio use, a straight 1.6m cable for casual and on-the-go listening, a pair of replacement ear pads and a handy 1/4" plug holder to keep your adaptor secure during a performance.

AlphaTheta Corporation has today announced the release of the brand new professional on-ear DJ headphone from its Pioneer DJ brand: the HDJ-CX. It might not seem like the Pioneer HDJ-CX is that special, but it can be pretty reliable for a good sound. As far as accurate studio headphones go, there is a ton of strong competition, but if you’re specifically looking for a flat ear cup with a focus on bass, then the CX will better speak to you. Pros The HDJ-CX headphones are comfortable enough to wear for extended periods of time without noticing their existence. The innovative, lightweight, ergonomic design is to thank for this outstanding level of comfort. Everything from the cable's wiring, which was streamlined to save weight, to the curl on the coiled wire, which was placed closer to the plug to improve balance, has been taken into account. As a result of all this, as well as the adjustable earcups and stainless steel headband, it's effortless to get the perfect fit. As a brand, the AIAIAI range is famously used by Richie Hawtin, Charlotte de Witte and many others – so what’s not to like! Approximate price: Thanks to a steel frame, super-flexible SteelFlex headband (great for single-ear monitoring) and their 3D mesh exterior, the M-100 Master are without doubt one of the most robust DJ headphones on the market. The super light weight HDJ-CX from Pioneer DJ offer superb sound with the comfort of a light and flexible design.
