I know what your thinking, what does positive thinking have to do with Confidence. But here me out. This book, with out a doubt belongs in this selection of the best books on confidence because of the wisdom provided chapter after chapter by the late great Norman Vincent Peale specifically for helping its readers lead a more positive and confident life. Change your metric of success, change the goal posts. Make the success just being an attempt and don’t worry about if you actually succeed in it this time. Another one of the previous generation confidence books that’s not based on science. Much of what is taught in this book is great. But it has nothing to do with science. This book focuses on how women often feel less confident than men even if they are just as competent, which has been confirmed in many studies.If anyone could personify tranquility and a strong self-system, the Dalai Lama would surely be somewhere on the list. His journey is enlightening and teaches us the true essence of being alive. The author strongly points at the fact that if we are happy with ourselves and do not wait for others to approve or disapprove of our actions, we can call on our high self-esteem and courage. I don’t think I’ll ever become a talented conversationalist because it’s draining. Let's face it, I am the lazy member of most conversations. But this has helped me notice my bad tendencies and given me a chance to turn it around when I need/want to. And I’m grateful for that.
