The Astro A40 TR Headset + MixAmp Pro 2019 have a slight edge over the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro for gaming.

While both headphones are comfortable, the Astro have better controls, are better built, and are compatible with Astro Command Center software, which allows you to customize their sound using a graphic EQ and presets. This lets you prioritize the audio you want to hear more, whether it be the team chat or the video game. Palworld has a lot of mechanics going on under the hood, and while it does its best to explain them all, a lot of nuance is left for you to figure out on your own.Astro also offers an alternative pre-amp, the MixAmp M80, which connects directly to your Xbox Controller and allows you to connect the headset via a 1/8" TRRS jack. It's absolutely perfect for anyone with a capture card that that handles analog audio (Elgato HD60S+, for example). The top panel is dominated by two large, gunmetal knobs with backlit indicator notches that glow white when the microphone is active and red when it's muted. Detailed frequency response and true-to-life imaging enable precise localization of sound and an unmistakable, competitive edge in your gaming.

I have the volume setting on the Astro MixAmp Pro TR at about 11 o'clock on the volume dial and that is plenty loud - I would not attempt to max this volume out as it would be deafening and potentially damage my hearing. These headphones have a typical 1/8” TRRS analog cable that provides audio and microphone support on all consoles when plugged into a controller.

At the very least, should you ever need new ear cushions, the ones on the Astro A40 can easily be removed. They’re great, but anyone interested in the aesthetic and base features of the headset will want to stick with just that. It's flexible but doesn't feel as resistant as a regular headband, especially ones with a metal frame. It also allows users to select one of three different EQ modes optimized for different game genres, as well as providing master volume control and the ability to mute the microphone easily.
