About this deal

The use of pin (small diameter) nails can also be applied when joining two mitres together. You should apply a small amount of adhesive or PVA glue when joining the two angled pieces but using a couple of small nails will help create the perfect join. For plastered walls or plasterboard with timber studs, then you can use either an adhesive on its own or a mix of adhesive and oval wire nails – ensuring that you nail these in line with the timber studs. Just recently had my upstairs floored and put the skirting on myself with oval nails, nailed into studs using stud finder. Ok job, bit wavy, i presume its just the walls as its new build. Skirting Line Dedicated】 You no longer need to worry about falling off the skirting lines or rusting the nail holes, which will affect the aesthetics. Top Tip: To ensure you drill holes deep enough measure the depth on the drill bit and mark it with a piece of masking tape. Then you just ensure you drill to that depth each time. You should find you'll learn how to judge this - a couple of firm (and straight) taps with the hammer should do.

Hardware Nails are of hard material, very strong and sharp, and keep the shape and not bend easily when you use. Using a nail gun can significantly increase the speed at which you fix your skirting to the wall but it is not strictly necessary as a good old fashioned hammer will do the job just as well.

If you have a dry lined wall with masonry behind it then be sure to use screws that are long enough to penetrate the inner masonry wall – usually around 80mm screws will suffice. If your nailing into studs, is the wall plasterboard and then skimmed, if so then ovals will be fine Right, remove the skirting, run a goodly bead of solvent-free along near the top (about 10mm down) and a ditto near the bottom (about 15mm up), and then some wobbly beads in between (depending on how tall your skirting is). Due to the different display and lighting effects, the actual color of the item may be slightly different from the color displayed on the picture. There are times where nails or screws should be used for attaching skirting boards to walls. The need for nails really comes down to what you are fixing your skirting on to and how even the walls are.

Give Away Special Tools】 This nail specific sleeve tool allows you to place the nail into the sleeve and directly tap it into the wall. If you have masonry walls then the best option is usually going to be to use a mixture of adhesive such as Gripfill (we supply standard and solvent free Gripfill) and masonry screws or nails.Using nails in addition to adhesive will allow for a more secure fix. It also eradicates the need to use props to hold the skirting in place while the adhesive sets. When fixing your skirting board to masonry walls you will need to make sure that you use masonry nails or screws. If using the latter, you should start by drilling pilot holes in to the masonry wall before inserting wall plugs that the screws will be fed in to. For nails, you should simply hammer these in around every 50-60cm.

Anyways, once you are happy you know how you want it to sit, hammer in these panel pins in the centre of the skirting, and fit them where they'll do the job you want - eg holding the skirting in to follow a line, keeping the skirting running straight, etc. You only want the minimum number of PPs to do this, perhaps 4 or 5 per length. You want them pretty much all the way through the skirting - their little points chust appearing. Easy Installation】 There is no need for an electric drill to drill holes. First, put the nail into the sleeve, drive the nail into the wall, fix a nail according to the length of the skirting line of about half a meter, and then fix the skirting line to the nail. The use of nails or screws will help the skirting board to match the shape of the wall as there will be enough strength to flex the board in to position. This will give a better finish and will prevent the skirting from making the wall look more uneven. Then position the skirting, hold it in place with yer foot whilst you gently tap it along its length with a soft mallet to nicely squish the adhesive in place - chust pressing it firmly into place is fine too. A squeeze of adhesive coming out along the top is good. Ok, now keeping it in place with yer foot, hammer the PPs in just enough so's they grab in the masonry (ie - in the plaster layer). Just tap them in enough to hold - do NOT over-hit them or they are likely to bend and then move the skirting board or break the plaster.Strong adhesives such as Gripfill are without a doubt the easiest way to attach your skirting to the wall but they can be troublesome with walls that are not even – which is a common problem even in modern homes. If you find that your walls are not particularly straight then you should use adhesive along with nails/screws.
