About this deal

Set of 3 Tall Gabion Galvanized Wire Cages 9.8″ x 9.8″ x 39.4″ This set of 3 taller cages are good for making tall fountains and pillars. The modular nature of Gabion cages allows for easy shape, size, and configuration customisation. You can design Gabions in different heights and lengths to suit the project's specific needs. The image I have here shows two different foundational support options for a large scale retaining build. Gabion construction is fireproof which makes a good choice for outdoor fireplaces for both wood burning and gas. Making a gabion raised garden bed is a fast, cheap, and easy way to create a vegetable garden. This Galvanised Steel Gabion Garden Planter 180x90x100cm is the perfect size in my opinion for a raised bed because at just under a metre high (which is around average waist height) and 1 metre wide so the centre of the bed can be easily reached it could be used to grow practically any food crop or even ornamentalsfor that matter.

With my outline/blueprint in hand we measured out the dimensions and used a red sharpie to mark our outline and make our cuts. Depending on how big your garden is, how many vegetables you want to grow and how much space you need, the number and size of your gabion raised bed will depend on the planning. Maybe you don't just want to build a raised bed of gabions, but several at the same time? So that you can easily reach the entire surface of your gabion raised bed, it should not be wider than 1.50 metres: so you can easily reach the centre with your hands. You can build your gabions raised bed round, but you can also create it as a square gabion bed, just your very own personal gabion raised bed made to measure. It doesn't matter whether you choose a rectangular gabion bed or a round gabion raised bed: Before you build your own gabion raised bed, you must stake out the intended area with pegs and a string and remove about ten centimetres from the ground on this area. If you have voles and moles in your garden, you can easily keep them away from your gabion raised bed: After the soil has been removed, simply place a close-meshed wire mesh either under or over the floor grid supplied by HS Gabions before building up the gabions. There are even special plastic barriers to help keep the beds or lawn free of molehills. If the carrots in the gabion raised bed grow above such a grid, they can neither be nibbled on by the mole nor by the vole. Gabions raised bed construction Gabion pillars are mostly decorative when used in landscaping and create a dramatic vertical focal point. Gabions are baskets made of a corrosion-protected metal. If they are filled with earth, pebbles or stones, they become a solid wall, which is used especially in road construction or landscaping to safely fasten slopes (For all information on building a gabion wall, please refer to our guide article Building a gabion wall). As long as the gabions are not yet filled, they are light and can be placed where they are needed without the use of machines. Depending on which material you choose to fill your gabions with, you can create very different effects in your garden. These can not only be filled with stones in different colours and shades, but also with glass fragments. Since all shapes can be formed with gabion baskets, triangular raised beds with gabions, square raised beds with gabions, round raised beds with gabions and spiral raised beds with gabions are all possible. Especially if you build your own gabions raised bed, you can become really creative in your garden design. Filling of gabionsThe subsequent layer of 10 - 15 centimetres of manure or coarse compost provides sufficient fertilisation. Durability and Strength: Choose Gabion stone that is durable and capable of withstanding the intended use and environmental conditions. While Gabion stone is considered environmentally friendly and sustainable, it's important to consider the entire project's impact. Proper design and responsible sourcing of materials are critical factors in ensuring the sustainability of Gabion installations. What factors should be considered when selecting Gabion stone for a project?

Measure the diameter of your pot and use bolt cutters or an angle grinder to cut a hole on the lid. The construction of a raised bed made of stone is actually very easy: Everything you need to build a gabion raised bed yourself can be bought cheaply. The high raised beds offered by HS-Gabionen always contain all grids, spacers and spirals. In case you want to build your raised bed according to your measurements, this is no problem either: For your raised bed you can buy single gabions cheaply online.

Gabion stone provides excellent structural strength and stability. The wire mesh cages filled with stone create a robust, secure structure that can withstand soil and water pressure. Gabion stone also allows for effective water drainage, reducing the risk of water accumulation and erosion.

Gabion wall stability guidelines. (n.d.). Retrieved March 12, 2018, from https://gabion1.com/gabion_stability.htmIt was challenging trying to figure out how to do this project. There was very little online information detailing how to build a small 2ft high gabion cage garden wall. So I will do my best to detail my findings, rational, and building processes. Environmental Impact: Consider the potential for recycling or reusing the stone at the end of its useful life to minimise waste. If you combine the broken glass with LEDs when installing it in the gabions, your raised bed will glow in the dark and set a particularly beautiful accent in the nocturnal garden. Fill the gabion bed with compost and plant it

Now simply assemble the outer basket and connect it to the appropriate spacers on the inner basket. Here, too, the spacers ensure that the high bed of gabions remains in better shape. Gabions raised bed filling - Filling gabion baskets with stones Finishing Touches: Clean off any excess debris from the Gabion wall surface. Consider adding a decorative stone or vegetation layer along the face of the wall to enhance its visual appeal. fleece - this is placed on the inside of the gabion baskets so that the soil from the raised bed cannot get between stones or broken glass The rebar will sit evenly spaced against the plumb line, as it will later be attaching to your gabion boxes. When selecting Gabion stone for a project, a few factors must be considered to ensure the desired functionality, aesthetic appeal, and long-term performance. Using a graded range of stone sizes can be beneficial too. Using a graded range of stone sizes involves combining larger stones, such as 6 inches (15 cm) in diameter and smaller stones in the 2 to 4 inches (5 cm to 10 cm) range. The mix of sizes helps to ensure good stability. What are the main benefits of using Gabion stone in landscaping projects? By using opposing pressure I was able to get a much nicer looking bend in my box. I had Eric stand on the 2 x 4 while I applied pressure with my foot at the base of the bend.
