The spurdog is known to swim around in shoals, which helps it to cover large distances when looking for food. Even though these large fishes are found in several places around the world, they are mostly and most commonly found in the USA and Australia. There are only a few species (i.e., the bull shark and the river shark) that live in freshwater areas, but the highest number are found in the waters of New South Wales in Australia. They will live in both shallow and deep waters, and their jaws are powerful enough to break apart the shell of a sea turtle.
