The 9 Lp's are dirty with light blemish, light scuffs and they play all with a light background noise between tracks.

The fourth disc, My Mother's Hymn Book, features gospel songs Cash first learned from his mother as a child and was later reissued as a standalone album in 2004. An expansive box set of material, most of it previously unreleased, recorded during the artist's graceful twilight years. In addition to the 4 other albums of American Recordings and the many fine collections of his earlier material, Unearthed is a treasure trove for devotees and new acolytes alike. The last disc of this monumental set is a "best-of" compilation of tracks that did make it on the American individual discs, a reminder of just how groundbreaking these sessions were. Irrespective of the source, all of our collectables meet our strict grading and are 100% guaranteed. This mammoth five CD box of seventy nine tracks from his American Recording sessions will only enhance his legend. If you're a fan you SHOULD get this, and if like I you praise Cash's American Recordings era is mandatory to own it. Man hört viele B-Seiten der "American Anthology", viele Goodies wie alternative Takes und Neuinterpretationen von Klassikern.

Neither are the definitive statements that some of Cash's covers from this period are (his glorious takes on Nick Lowe and Danzig, to name just two), but they're still very much worth hearing. Although the images used on the standalone CD depict Cash near the end of his life, most of the recordings on My Mother's Hymn Book actually date to Cash's early sessions for American in 1993–1994 (hence the fact they only feature Cash performing by himself). To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.

Through their inconsistencies and quirks (and, more often than not, brilliance), they shed light on how Cash's final records were shaped, edited and produced. As Long as the Grass Shall Grow" was previously recorded by Cash for his 1964 album Bitter Tears: Ballads of the American Indian. Für mich ist es jedenfalls schwieriger (vor allem wenn es um vertonte Geschichten aus der alten Bibel geht, das pack ich fast nicht), die Songs alle zu mögen. Father and Son" was previously recorded by Cash as "Father and Daughter" for his 1974 album The Junkie and the Juicehead Minus Me. Unearthed was originally released as a CD box set by producer Rick Rubin’s American Recordings in November 2003, two months after the country superstar’s passing.

Most riveting are the numerous traditional numbers, the songs that were clearly closest to the Man in Black's heart. Flesh and Blood" was previously recorded by Cash for the soundtrack to the 1970 film I Walk the Line. Those who bought the recent vinyl box set of American I-VI have every right to be upset that Unearthed wasn't included.Condition - This item is in Excellent condition or better (unless it says otherwise in the above description). The set was originally planned to celebrate Cash and Rubin's decade of recording together, and the final mixes had been sent to Cash, but he passed away before receiving them. Many of the songs Cash recorded during the American sessions were updated versions of songs he had previously recorded.
