About this deal

Ri Zu nodded, smiling at Bi De, while Yun Ren stood up just a bit straighter, examining the pass like a seasoned warrior.

Travel had been on my mind quite a bit recently, ever since Big D, Rizzo, Tigu, Yin, Xiulan, Yun Ren, and Xianghua had gone on their journeys—but now, it was less worry and more… well, I guess pride in what they wanted to do? It was a strange feeling to be sure, but it wasn’t a bad one.Arrogant Masters? Heavenly Tribulations? All that violence and bloodshed? Yeah, no thanks. I’m getting out of here. The "pacifists are the best fighters" trope is one I never liked, and sadly it's part of this story too. The protagonist doesn't want to fight or become stronger, but rather work on his farm and have a peaceful life. But it just so happens that working on his farm gives him amazing Chi powers and makes him a much stronger fighter. I know it's partly meant as a joke here, but it's yet another thing I didn't find funny. In our society, which praises peacefulness, it is a common (and contradictory) fantasy that being peaceful leads to combat strength. Personally, I think the fantasy of training and getting stronger is healthy, while the fantasy of avoiding hardships and magically becoming the strongest is unhealthy.

Finally a cultivation novel where the MC is worth cheering for and isn't as bad as his enemies. Plus a unique cultivation method (farming as cultivation:)Xianghua’s face went blank as she contemplated the words. “I think noodle shops are cursed.” She said after a moment of more consideration. Elder Xian taught me how to make this one,” Yun Ren said to the blade as he flexed his Qi, warming up the misty feeling in his gut until it felt like the sun’s rays. The sword rattled in approval. To combat this, the fox-faced man had started critiquing Shen Yu’s recordings. And the implication that Shen Yu wasn’t as good as a boy at recording images had sparked Shen Yu’s spirit. Yun Ren’s eyes widened. “You’re looking to buy one?” His brother had been a little interested before, but outright asking Yun Ren for one? Xiulan had always known the rooster to be contemplative, but she never imagined that he would have written an entire and quite easy to understand method for cultivating as an Initiate.

Weakness is something to be shed. And a lower realm will never have something to offer a higher one. Ok. So boring critiques first - sometimes there's a typo or a word that I'm 90% sure isn't what the author intended. Not often, and certainly not enough to detract from my enjoyment. I should have known, really. There are a myriad of Daos and they all can lead to enlightenment and immortal ascension. That much is common sense for any xianxia reader.Shattered, broken fragments pulled together. Forging themselves anew. A tiny spark. A bare portion of what it was. But it was here. But still no pain came. Instead.. There were feelings. Feelings beyond pain. Happiness, contentment, care, respect. There was hurt too. A feeling of profound loss, but determination to continue. Well… that was kind of easy, wasn’t it?” Yun Ren asked his brother as they stared at the corpse of the deer. The plot, while being a fun twist on the genre, was not very interesting to me. There was barely any action, barely any drama, and the characters weren't interesting. Being a comedy and little else, it all came down to the humor. But all in all the slow pace had proved fruitful. Their travels and time together had strengthened the bonds in their nascent fellowship. Working tougher, cooking, and swapping stories around their campfire had fast become one of the most anticipated parts of the day.
