About this deal

So the game is all Space Marine Vs Space Marine. (forget your Orks, Eldar and other races – they don’t matter here). Though you may see the odd Daemon lurking about amongst the traitor legions. There’s a staggering amount of detail on this figure. From the extras around his waist to the textures on his armour – and his face! There’s a lot to love here, and plenty more to paint. Praetor with Power Axe The Contemptor Dreadnought is a faithful translation of the resin kit that comes on two medium-sized sprues. Unlike the Venerable Contemptor Dreadnought from Betrayal at Calth, the model is fully posable with ball joints for the arms, hips, and legs, as well as movable elbow and knee joints, and two differently posed feet pieces for each leg.

So, almost 40% – with the Europeans and Australians not doing quite as well – as usual, sorry guys. And once again this is based on our lower price “estimates” of the included models when they release as individual retail sets.Front-and-centre, we’re going to have a look at the books and reference sheets that come in the Age of Darkness box. The new Praetor models are superb. It’s all pretty spectacular, to be honest. However, the Praetors do stand-out – two particularly large, shiny diamonds amidst a pile of smaller (but still pretty shiny) diamonds. Finally, Scatter dice and a range of templates to represent the devastating effects of the biggest weapons in the 31st Millennium are also being released – there’s a set of three smaller templates for flamers and explosive blasts, as well as a massive Hellstorm template and an Apocalyptic Barrage marker. There are still a few fiddly bits, but the guide is, on the whole, much clearer. There are some irritating bits with the cloak (again), but these are less annoying than those on the Praetor with Power Sword. To play, you’ll need the Warhammer: The Horus Heresy – Age of Darkness Rulebook , as well as the correct rulebook for your army. If you’re defending the Imperium with a Loyalist Legion, you’ll want the Liber Astartes: Loyalist Legiones Astartes Army Book , and if you’re fighting for the Warmaster, you’ll want the Liber Hereticus: Traitor Legiones Astartes Army Book .

Add some psychic supremacy to your JOYTOY collection with this Ultramarines Primaris Librarian. With his mighty force sword and an impressive cape, he can tap into the powerful energy of the warp, melting the minds of his foes. JOYTOY Blood Angels Death Company Intercessors The Liber Astartes is Loyalists’ bible, the complete repository of rules, lore, and unit profiles for each of the nine Legiones Astartes who kept the faith and stayed true to their Emperor. Still, I didn’t appreciate having to assemble 40 shoulderpads. As, in case you weren’t aware, the studded pads all come in two halves. whilst this is done in an effort to make them clearly more rounded when formed in the factory (rather than slightly elongated attempts done previously). The average modelser may become frustrated and annoyed by these so much so their attempts to glue them may either leave a gap down the centre or end up with the part covered in glue – overall it could make them look worse. Cataphractii TerminatorsThe only sprues we’ve done are the ones for the Cataphractii Terminators and the MKVI Legion Tactical Marines. This is because the other units are on their own unique sprue(s) and only build a single model. There isn’t masses coloured because there’s a great deal of choice as to how you can assemble your miniatures. Nice! Cataphractii Terminators Sprue When a bolter and chainsword won’t do the business, the Tactical Squads of the Legiones Astartes turn to special weapons, forming Legion Tactical Support Squads. With six varieties to choose from in this comprehensive set of upgrades, no battlefield conundrum will go unanswered. This set contains 10 weapons each of six types – flamers, plasma guns, meltaguns, rotor cannons, volkite chargers, and volkite calivers. They’re designed to fit seamlessly onto the Mk VI Tactical Squad, with hands moulded onto the guns to fit your Space Marines’ arms. Legiones Astartes Heavy Weapons Upgrade Set (Missile Launchers and Heavy Bolters) The Captaphractii Terminators are built around a pair of legs with part of a tabard attached. Each pair of legs requires a single foreleg to be attached, and then the tabard attached at the belt.

We don’t tend to look at construction guides in any real detail in these articles, but today we’ve decided to make an exception. There are two reasons for this. For your Cataphractii you should run them with lightning claws – there’s little point running them with fists since you’re almost certainly going to be wounding on 2s anyway. Throw them in the Spartan which you should fit with, if possible, an assault cannon. The Contemptor can run full brrrrt with an assault cannon in the fist and a kheres on the other arm, if you can find one – if not, try and find a second fist with a second assault cannon. If neither of these are available, throw your preference of weapon on the other arm, you’ll find most of the choices can work well here.

Talking of hard targets, here’s the Kratos Heavy Assault Tank – a battlefield behemoth that’ll send your seven-foot sci-fi supersoldiers scampering for safety. It’s tough, fast, and positively bristling with arcane armaments, which you can customise to your dark heart’s content. There are three options for the turret gun, four apiece for the hull weapons and the sponsons, nine choices of pintle gun, plus dozer blades, searchlights, and gunners. Better yet, you can field this beast in squadrons of two. And here is another scale comparison of how various Terminator-clad models rank up with the new MkVI Legionaries. Unfortunately, I didn’t have a Tartaros Terminator, but I’ve seen these in person and know that these are a mm or two smaller than Cataphractii. Other components

The Horus Heresy has only really been a Forge World thing until now. With only a couple of plastic boxed-games releases, the range of resin miniatures never had the same appeal as the plastic Warhammer Fantasy/Age of Sigmar and Warhammer 40,000 ranges (because it’s comparatively a nightmare to build). But now, with a new range of plastic miniatures, times are changing. The instructions do not help either. So many instructions are rammed into one A4 side, which makes some steps very unclear – such as, for example, how you apply the tail of the helmet plume to the head. The build guide tries to do too much in too little space, which made building this figure very frustrating.
