About this deal

It was weird that she kept their prior relationship a secret, but it was her rehearsal dinner on the eve of her wedding to Josh. Her fiance Josh seems the perfect counterpoint: careful, thoughtful, and kind, and the two are soon to marry. this book isn't just simple romance - there is plenty of depth too, and twists that will keep you guessing right up to the final chapters!

Overall: absolutely must read, honestly, smartly, beautifully written novel that I absolutely recommend! As fate would have it, one magical, adventure-filled day it seemed all her beloved stars aligned to bring them together. This book is so emotional, approaching and discussing so important things like choices we made, the fate we’re destined, finding “the one”!What then does it say that suddenly he is back in her life; is it fate trying to tell her something? But romance should be unpredictable and full of fireworks, and as the big day approaches, Audrey’s found herself wondering if Josh really is “The One. guy, the man she met six years ago and had one amazing day with but never saw again - Audrey can't help but see it as a sign. I thought it was gonna be one of those “she was about to marry the wrong person but the right person appeared right before her wedding” but NO it was so much more. The questions and realities that Sophie Cousens brilliantly addresses, like the ups and downs of marriage and having kids, the day to day monotony of "life's admin", whether two very different people in a relationship can make it work, felt so honest and relatable.

What if she’s making a mistake like her mother Vivian who married five times and never found her HEA? It will likely resonate with anyone who’s been in a relationship, married or not, and there were so many points I related to. And when everything that could go wrong with the wedding starts to go wrong, Audrey has to wonder: could fate be trying to stop her from making a huge mistake? It was the book equivalent of those cringey tumblr stories that all end with "and then everyone on the plane clapped" and aren't remotely realistic. Hopeless romantic and lifestyle reporter Laura's business trip to the Channel Islands isn't off to a great start. But romance should be unpredictable and full of fireworks, and as the big day approaches, Audrey’s found herself wondering if Josh really is The One.

Her best friend Clara, her mom Vivian, her nactor (nanny / actor, long story) Hillary, Josh's sister Miranda, and Josh's grandmother Granny Parker were all superb. I would have probably opened a bottle of champagne after the dead bat incident (you have to read it). but they fit even more perfectly alongside the potentially life-altering "what if" at the center of this charming and fun romance from Sophie Cousens that explores JUST that question!I thought the formula worked well, as it keeps up guessing as to what will actually happen at the wedding, as the tension continues to build in the current day chapters, and as we watch both her relationships with Fred and Josh unfold in the past, as a reader one is left deciding who one wants her to choose.

But as Laura's mystery man proves difficult to find—and as she uncovers family secrets—she may have to reimagine the life, and love, she always thought she wanted. Apparently, I can’t handle wedding-centric books, or at least not ones involving dysfunctional people. The story is so relatable, I know I have thought about what if I made different choice in my life what would it look like?
