About this deal

Her debut children's novel, Little Big Sister, shares the sibling perspective of growing up with a brother who has autism. It's never a bad thing to be more focused on your career and school, as long as you don't lose sight of the important things.

When you have a child with autism, and especially a child with significant needs, it is often about that child. Keep in mind that anyone can view public collections - they may also appear in recommendations and other places. Turning off the personalised advertising setting won’t stop you from seeing Etsy ads, but it may make the ads you see less relevant or more repetitive.

Celia works exclusively on an iPad Pro, using the ‘Procreate’ app, as she finds it to be the most accessible medium--portable, and greatly facilitated to produce finished work. Little Big Sister tells the story of Starr, a girl with dwarfism who lives with her mum and younger sister, Babs.

Ed teacher, both elementary and high school, I truly see the value in this novel and all the lessons taught within it. I am also a mother to an amazing young girl who makes me proud every day of what an awesome sister she is to him.Use of these and any missed payments may affect your ability to obtain credit from Klarna and other lenders. Working with high-quality fabrics — think pima cotton and merino wool — and local fair-trade factories, The Tiny Big Sister shares the same responsible ethos as its younger sibling, ensuring garments are made slowly, carefully, and for the future. And no matter how much it annoys me that people always assume I’m younger, I love being the little-big sister.

While visiting my grandchildren at Christmas, my 7 year old granddaughter and I were talking about what it’s like for her to have a brother who is nonverbal and has autism (he is 11 months older than she). However, for all of you older siblings out there that have “Oldest Child Syndrome” like me, you know that more often than not, your little siblings get their way. and she was thrilled to realize that she wasn't alone, and that she wasn't a bad person to feel some of the emotions she was feeling (jealousy, frustration). Takes quite a mature approach to how it feels to be different and how saying difference doesn’t matter is sometimes more of a hindrance than a help.

Featuring art work by Celia Ivey, a British illustrator with dwarfism commissioned by Little Island, the book will be published in spring 2023. The girls explain how cruel it is to mock and talk down to those with special needs, and discuss how someone with a particular disability can have many other talents.

If people consider you to be very mellow, odds are you are just waiting to let it all out, especially if you are short. A fun and moving story about disability, family and fitting in, told by a major children’s author and illustrated by an artist with dwarfism. Since my daughter was away for an overnight, I read the book first in preparation of her reading it (so I knew what to expect). There is nothing wrong with wanting to be in better shape, but do it at a pace that is right for you.
