About this deal

No, Briwax Danish Oil does not come in colours, but you can tint it with Briwax Spirit-based Wood Dye. We are limiting access to our locations to employees who are necessary to keep our operations running. A very light sand, another wipe with stain, and a wipe with Teak Oil will bring the surface back to new.

As with any clear finish, oils do not give complete protection from the harsh rays of the New Zealand sun. Briwax Oils penetrate, feed, and harden the fibres of bare wood, giving a durable water-resistant surface not prone to chipping or flaking. Briwax spirit-based dyes are based on methylated spirits, so you can lighten the colour by adding methylated spirits.Start with 80 grit sandpaper to get the worst off, and finish with about 180 grit, or finer if you like. On Matai and Totara, apply Briwax Sanding Sealer first, which will stop the acids in the wood affecting the oil. Briwax can also be used to protect metals such as brass, chrome, copper, and aluminum from tarnishing as quickly as unprotected metals. If the surface is more seriously damaged, sand it lightly first and apply one or two coats of Danish Oil.

Some people even like to apply four coats, if the floor is particularly heavily used or subject to water, such as a kitchen or entranceway. If you have knobs on your doors and are trying to add pulls, maybe try to use the existing hole as one side? I did use Briwax once to make an outdated shiny brass ceiling fan look like antique brass and it turned out fantastic!Getting ready to try bro wax I’d say my cabinets are in excellent condition but too orange yellow for me . For getting into cracks, I really globbed on the wax, then wiped away the cracks and hard to reach places with a butter knife/ flathead screwdriver, etc, wrapped with my rag. We found ours to look streaky in parts around the edges where we couldn’t really get all the way against the line.

I got the wrong color by mistake and don’t want to ruin my cabinets, but I’ve noticed that black wax is used a lot over chalk painted furniture with a nice effect. However, retouching often used places wouldn’t be hard since it is so easy to apply, as I’m sure you know with your vanity. Maintenance: The renowned Briwax finish can be maintained by further applications, giving increased hardness and shine.Unlike many other finishes such as wood stains, Briwax Spirit-based dyes are not a finish in themselves.

I struggled with what to do with the dated 90’s kitchen I inherited (we moved in to my family home this fall) and I tried this and it did a WORLD of difference!

Briwax Original Wax Polish Teak is formulated with fast drying, stronger solvents which speed up drying, and also increase the cleaning ability of the wax slightly. Generally a wipe down with mineral turpentine, left to dry and lightly sanded, then a thin coat of the oil will remedy this. Wax is not waterproof, and if spills are allowed to stay on waxed surfaces they can cause white spotting or watermarks. The good thing is that since it is perpendicular to the fronts, you can’t really tell that they don’t completely match. Since staing with the Briwax my neice was over and was rubbing her feet on these ends and it came off on her socks.
