About this deal

Which is where I'm going to critize the world building. I get that Juliette apparently wasn't interested in figuring out what exactly was going on with the world and the Reestablishment, but it did feel wrong for her to not ask for proof when Castle told her that the world was, in fact, better off than they thought. Or for her to never again show any interest in why she has the power she's so afraid of. As I touched on earlier, there is more than just romantic love in this series. There’s love between friends and love between family, which was equally as sweet as the romance parts of the series. I could stand exactly two of them and the rest... let's just say it took all my willpower to get through book two.

First, I want to say that I don’t judge you if you like these books. If you have read this series when you were younger and formed an attachment to them, I understand. We all have our vices. This review is for anyone who has not read them yet—anyone older than 18.

Juliette’s best friend is male (Kenji) and they are just friends and only ever have been friends. I really love that Juliette and Kenji are besties. They have no romantic history at all which I also love. A boy and a girl can be friends y’all. Also, Although they aren’t romantically involved they still love each other and understand one another. somewhere in here Warners actions get 'justified' it was a cheap way of switching the ML. Also am I the only one who thinks Anderson named Juliette Juliette because her and warner kept falling in love? (Romeo and Juliette) I Found that funny, lol.

If you are a fifteen year old girl you’ll like them, but as an adult, I cannot fathom how other grown women can read this and say It’s good. It’s not. It’s wildly immature. I’m not saying this because it’s a YA series, I’ve read PLENTY of YA books that absolutely captivated me. Books meant for a much younger audience even. But these? THESE? Shatter me is the worst series I have ever had the displeasure of reading. They’re immature and childish because the writing doesn’t know how to handle itself. It doesn’t understand who its audience is supposed to be. It doesn’t understand the narratives its taken on. It doesn't understand its characters or plot.

Everyone gets a happy ending. (obviously not the bad guys lol). By happy ending, I don’t mean everything is perfect, but I am saying that almost everyone gets what they wanted (everyone meaning the good characters). Also, although there was one big main goal that was shared, everyone still had specific things they wanted, which eventually happened.
