About this deal

The Chalnath Expanse is situated on the wrong side of the Great Rift, deep within the darkened reaches of Imperium Nihilus. For those playing out Spec Ops campaigns you’ve got a list of Battle Honours that can be dished out to your operatives.

Several of these have bonus rewards depending on whether you’re currently undertaking a specific Spec Op; Secure the Relics sees both teams racing to grab and secure a number of sacred relics (objective markers) on the table. All we ask is the product still be in its original packaging and you have your proof of purchase and we'll be happy to help.At somewhere in its transit to my evil lair, it looks as if someone might’ve dropped the box my copy of Chalnath came packaged in, so a few of its sides are a bit bent and dented. When a lost fleet of Adepta Sororitas unexpectedly arrived in the system, months of trade and negotiation were undone, as the zealous Sisters of Battle took it upon themselves to free Vedik from xenos interference. Exemplar of the Greater Good rewards you with bonus XP for an operative who has taken on their second battle scar.

The first has the user count as having +1 markerlight token when shooting at a target with 1 or more markerlight tokens, the second turns you into a marker drone. That said, though, there are still lots of spares on the sprue once you’ve finished if you feel like getting a few extra parts on your figures or kitbashing some of the extras onto your other figures. Love the aesthetics of these, as they are formatted in each of the factions unique ways through the use of imagery and fonts. Your operatives will have their work cut out for them in the Chalnath Expanse, with nine new missions arriving in the Shadow Operations: Chalnath mission pack. They just have so many tools and depth that I want to explore, especially as they still have key weaknesses like with melee and durability.

I’m also not convinced the build guide for the larger bits of terrain is correctly numbered throughout – but by the time I finished building the kit, it was 11PM on the night of release day and I had completely lost track of where I was and what I was doing. As usual, I haven’t been able to get a decent, folded-out shot of both sides of the board due to the limitations of my lightbox. Devout gives one operative the ability to pray for guidance once per battle, spending 1 AP to gain 1 CP.

The one thing that really threw me, though, was that you are required to actually break off several parts of moulded scenery. Righteous Purpose just makes your operative immune to critical damage, allowing them to have any criticals inflict normal damage. It goes through the various factions that take part in this conflict, and sometimes gives us a hint of what rules and updates we could be getting soon. Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom. Following my last dive into a Kill Team expansion, I was a little nervous I might end up feeling hard done by and disappointed, underwhelmed by a lack of content and a paucity of material that I actually wanted to paint.

Pious gives you back Faith points on a D6 roll of 5+ each time your operative performs one or more Acts of Faith during an activation. The Kill Team Octarius boxed set is one choice, its great value and not only does it contain two additional Kill Teams (Death Korps of Krieg Guardsmen and Ork Kommandos), it also contains terrain and the game rules as it contains the Kill Team Core Book (plus a host of other essential products every Kill Team player should own). This is to be expected, though: Chalnath is an expansion; it’s designed to work in tandem with the original Octarius box.

These are pretty standard – similar to the Octarius missions they use/recommend a specific terrain layout using the box terrain, and they generally pretty good at matching the mood of what they seem to be going for. Please re-visit this Cookie Notice regularly to stay informed about our use of cookies and related technologies. As we’ve seen with the core book and compendium, Kill Team is more fun when you can really leave into the different specialised operatives.e. the DKoK and Orks that came in Octarius, and now the Adepta Sororitas and T’au in Chalnath), so there’s a good chance the rules for your favourite faction won’t appear until well into the future and will require you to spend even more money to obtain them. Finally, there are also bespoke ploys to help you demonstrate your devotion to the Emperor even harder. As you’d expect, the book is also filled with lots of awesome pictures to inspire you to pick up a paintbrush and bring the figures and terrain included in the box to life. Novitiates are completely new to the 41st Millennium, and as you’ve come to expect from Kill Team releases, their kit is incredibly flexible and comes with dozens of options to let you build your team as you see fit. They are full of character, and will look right at home with the rest of the range should you decide to add them to your 40K army.
