About this deal

The final performance of the tour, on October 31, 2012, was another back-to-back, sold-out production at REDCAT. I'm beginning to think that it is precisely that narrative and textual instability, both within the narrative and from edition to edition, that is a central message this book offers to its readers. I'm excited, it's on it's way in the mail :] I've never read a book that actually creeped me out or frightened me, so I hope this is it.

All proceeds went to Homeboy Industries, a Los Angeles-based non-profit that offers training and support to at-risk and formerly gang-involved youth. Danielewski began work on a 27-volume series, The Familiar, although he completed only five volumes before halting the project in 2017.

Stated "First Edition" with a full number line on the copyright page, but labeled "2nd Edition on the title page. I'm terribly sorry I made a new thread for this, but I couldn't find anywhere it seemed sensible to post this, and couldn't see it mentioned anywhere else. Navidson's exploration of a seemingly endless, totally dark, and constantly changing labyrinth in the house becomes an examination of truth, perception, and darkness itself.

G. Ballard, Stephen King, and David Foster Wallace bowing at Danielewski's feet, choking with astonishment, surprise, laughter, awe. If you can imagine that Peter Pan's enemy is not Captain Hook but Neverland itself, or that the whale that swallows Jonah is Moby-Dick, you'll begin to appreciate what this book is about.Starting with an odd assortment of marginalized youth—musicians, tattoo artists, programmers, strippers, environmentalists, and adrenaline junkies—the book eventually made its way into the hands of older generations, who not only found themselves in those strangely arranged pages but also discovered a way back into the lives of their estranged children. When Johnny Truant attempts to organize the many fragments of a strange manuscript by a dead blind man, it gains possession of his very soul. THE MIND-BENDING CULT CLASSIC ABOUT A HOUSE THAT’S LARGER ON THE INSIDE THAN ON THE OUTSIDE • A masterpiece of horror and an astonishingly immersive, maze-like reading experience that redefines the boundaries of a novel. Asked to briefly describe House of Leaves, Danielewski has said in an interview that he “likes to look at House of Leaves as a three-character play: a blind old man, a young man, and a very special, extraordinarily gifted woman.

No one could have anticipated the small but devoted following this terrifying story would soon command. Typing it in by hand is too damn slow, so I'm trying to get ahold of some OCR software to convert it to text so I can just feed it raw into the hexeditor. Danielewski's first novel House of Leaves is a multi-layered fiction--part horror-story, part philosophical meditation, and mostly very good storytelling.

I've also read that the reader must sometimes hold the book at various angles to read the text, and I'm not sure which edition would be easier to handle and take around with me.

Just another example of three "reference" texts based on the same ideology, but yet say different things.Little update: this site lists all the editions ( here are covers and isbn), so I'm trying to find either the hardcover or paperback of the "Full-color Remastered Edition. S. versions go, there are three publications: hardcover - in blue, softcover - in blue, and softcover - in gray, minotaur and stricken passages in red.
