About this deal

Upgrade the VR gaming experience with the re-emerging space simulation genre and the advanced X56 HOTAS. After testing, using, and reviewing, (ok, weeks of fun gaming!) taking into consideration the most important features, we’ll make our final verdict. Who’s It For?

The key elements are there. The detachable throttle is probably the neatest feature: given that you're going to need easy access to your keyboard for its extra buttons, being able to split these components around it is a definite advantage. Looks great, thats all it has going for it. Hat switches and other knobs are sloppy, location of certain buttons could be better, The X52 Pro , on the other hand is excellent in all respects . all knobs and hat switches are constructed very well and in much better user friendly locations. Ideal for VR: The X-56 places controls perfectly under your fingers where subtle distinctions in button feel and shape help you navigate the control set with easeThe second major issue is the potentiometers. Saitek has always used cheap potentiometers for its controls and that manifests itself to the user as "shaky" inputs. This can be seen on the thumb wheels and rotaries and can sometimes become so pronounced that you can't bind certain controls to them without creating problems for yourself. There is no fix, it is just cheap parts. HOTAS programming interface is not user friendly but without it you can only get 33% functionality of the buttons. The mode switch will only function for buttons bound to the keyboard through the HOTAS software meaning, if you use a game interface to set buttons, it will not register the mode button. Additionally if the same button is set in game and in the HOTAS software you will get both inputs at the same time. You will spend upwards of 20 hours setting up your HOTAS keybindings profile unless someone shares theirs with you. Youtube makes it doable, but not easy. The hardest parts to figure out will be knobs and multidirectional controls which will be semifunctional if set in game. Trial and error Editor’s note: The following article is not intended to be a ranking, but is only to serve as a list of possible options. As the saying goes, your mileage may vary. I did a bit of a research. 1st i wanted to buy Saitek Pro Flight X56 Rhino or Saitek X52 Pro but i saw people are complaining about poor quality.

Military-grade Space and Flight Sim Precision. Customizable options including all the control surface options required to achieve the exact level of performance that aspiring combat pilots demand.System Requirements : Windows 11,10,8.1,7, 2x USB 2.0 Port Sure it's not as highly modular as some, but this is a really professional-feeling yoke. For half a grand, this is a super-premium price, but there's hardly a thing about this yoke that feels out of place. It's honestly no wonder Boeing wanted their name on it. First impression*: Extremely scared that I would have had to return item after 10 minutes. The throttle was not calibrated where mid-throttle was registering as 0% and there was no way to calibrate within windows. Turned out that there is internal calibrations. See bottom of review for the BKM on fixing this which can also be found on forums for the older version of the x56 (x55) On the other hand, the T16000M throttle does not have the benefit of a centre detent, ehich would be my only real wish for as an improvement.Read Related Article: Logitech Harmony 700 Review – A Deep Dive What We Don’t Like About Logitech X56 it may be a good idea to monitor the 5v rail in bios for volts drop or spikes if happerning across multiple titles (ideally should be smooth) Sometimes, some random actions just occurred during gameplay, such as opening the galaxy map and engaging the frame shift drive. Sometimes this happened when we first started playing, and at other times after a few hours of gameplay. An internet search pulled up threads about this. Seemingly the unit’s high-power draw could be the issue, even though we connected our Logitech X56 to an aftermarket USB 3.0 PCIe card. Whatever the cause, unplugging and re-plugging the USB cables fixes the issue; at least until the next time it happens.

i managed to get mine to work better in fact it doesn't do it anymore since i turned on chat on to tabs. Ergonomics*: some of the buttons are not placed well for long term usage. It's ok if you just need to hit every minute or so, but not as a 2 minute+ toggling spree. The hat controls on both controls are placed slightly out of alignment with my hands so that constant usage starts to hurt the thumb for both hands. The throttle is a bit better placed but sometimes difficult to move the 2 smaller hats due to tight spaces. The X52 feels much more "natural". This is my -1 reason for not being 5-starsSo there's not a huge number of handy buttons, but on the base, there is not only a great deal to make up for it (including ones dedicated to flaps and throttle), but there's also the option to mode switch up to two levels with two functional modes and button shift. This gives the Raptor Mach 2 an edge, despite the buttons being a little awkward to get to if you've got your hands full, achieve 29 programmable actions T16000m suffers from the finger switch micro switch wearing out after a couple of years. Had two now, just replaced the microswitch in the current one (like a bit of soldering). But they are so cheap they are replaceable. The downside to having a detached throttle is that they’re generally more expensive. Although bear in mind that they aren’t just great for strictly aircraft games, or flight or space simulators; they can also work for a wide range of games, such as some FPSs where you might jump into a jet or helicopter. Whether you're in the heat of a dog fight or about to drop the landing gear in the space station, X56 supplies the heroic environment you need for the best experience. Edit the full-spectrum RGB lighting to your liking with feature-rich software.

We found that the RGB lighting didn’t quite reproduce all of the color spectra accurately or consistently; especially white, which appeared as more pale blue, and yellow and orange looked greenish. I own a X56 (and the X52, and X45 before it). The X56 is a good "mid-range" HOTAS in the sense that it offers a really solid control layout and can be quite versatile. That being said, where it is strong in versatility, it is weak in overall quality.Depending on if you are looking to buy a HOTAS as a flight student and would like to accomplish some chair flying between flights or if you are a serious gamer looking to simulate combat, the right HOTAS for you will depend on the capabilities of that device. The more complex aircraft you plan to fly with the HOTAS the more programmable features and precision you will need. Buttons None of that takes away from the professional, satisfying feel of the whole setup. Sure, there are some oddities with the reverse thrust levers being not the most intuitive, but otherwise, there's hardly a thing about this yoke that feels out of place. Most actual pilots I've spotted reviewing this yoke are really impressed with how accurate the design is compared to the real deal. I bought Thrustmaster T.16000M FCS HOTAS 9.1.2017. Since then it has been in use almost daily with ED and some fight simulators. I do not need to use keyboard or mouse at all during flight in ED. Another issue is the throttle itself. It isn't bad per se but its design does mean that it is rather limited (especially when dealing with twin engine aircraft). These days, even entry level HOTAS setups really should be twin throttle at a minimum.
