About this deal

The Extinction Trials is a rollercoaster ride into a dystopian world that has been ingeniously created by S. There isn’t actually much romance though, though it’s definitely hanging in the air and I wouldn’t be surprised to see it in the sequels.

If there’s an no-man’s land filled with dangerous creatures and certain death at every step, chances are there’s a lone survivor living there for years and years who’ll conveniently show up and save your ass from being eaten by said dangerous creatures. Again, it’s not the best book ever written in the world, and it hasn’t changed my life or anything, but it was really entertaining and I had so much fun reading it. He is the author of ten novels that have sold nearly five million copies worldwide in twenty languages.Overall, I think this book was absolutely amazing, its impossible to put down and I highly recommend you read it. The tension builds rapidly in this dual-narrative fantasy adventure (the first of a new series), which has gruesome scenes and moments of real jeopardy. The only character that had any kind of arc was Storm, as despite Lincoln apologising to Storm at their final trial to select a winner, he still follows his plan from the very beginning. I felt like I was stepping into a full formed world that was vivid and easy to imagine thanks to the gorgeous writing. Maybe it helps with the dystopian world but making me snort, roll my eyes, and think of a My Little Pony every time I read a MCs name does not help me get immersed in the story.

The sequel comes out surprisingly quickly after the release of the first book, and even that feels like too long a wait! The pacing wasn't choppy and the ending did leave me wanting more, I thought overall that the last chapter was a great set-up for the next book. The book ended in a way that makes it readable as a standalone, but it also left me hungry for more. The Extinction Trials is based on the concept that dinosaurs didn't get wiped out and this has massively affected humans. I'm always a little wary of these type of claims, but not this time, it's spot on and I'm truly glad that I have now got book 2, Exile, so that I can dive straight in and continue my journey with these amazing characters. This year the stakes seem much higher- this time 100 lucky winners of the trials will get to compete on Piloria, which is WAY more than ever before. Regarding the story-line, it was often quite predictable, and that's why it got a 4 star rating instead of a 5 star rating. Not only did the Stipulators not give them any coherent bit of information they didn’t even bother to ask the ‘contestants’ to be discreet and quiet and perhaps not kill each other?

I love the concept; living in a world that’s so deprived and overpopulated that the human race want to wipe out the dinosaur continent of Piloria in able to survive. it has a mysterious reptilian cover that wills you to open the pages to begin and then, before you get to the first chapter the reader is greeted with a map, (love a map, of a new unexplored fantasy world) it may be a basic one, but once again it encourages and excites you to begin an adventure that I'm positive you will not be able, like myself, to put down. The world building is so awesome, I won’t go into any more detail, you’ll just have to read it yourself!

Lincoln, our other POV, hasn’t had the same difficult start to life as Storm but has much more to lose due to an ill younger sibling. Plot and character are masterfully woven together and the action - which is anything but frozen - sling-shots from stage to stage like an intergalactic spaceship' Daily Mail , on The Solar War . He was weirdly drawn to Storm, which was refreshing as usually it’s the girls who fancy the guys inexplicably, so it was nice to see him obsessing over her instead. So this book has been on my “on hold” shelf (I started reading over a year ago, and haven’t been able to get myself to finish it) because halfway in, it was like nothing had even happened yet? We work closely with publishers and authors to ensure that we offer the best books on the market for your child. Other secondary characters were all different and there should be some interesting things come up in the next book, particularly relating to Storm. You need the space, you need the food, you need new resources, medicine and a shitload of things your continent has run out of.
