About this deal

Ultra HD renderings like this should give fans contemplating the switch to an Ultra HD capable set up, the nudge they need.

That said, when the film launches us into space, and the screen opens up to envelope the IMAX footage - the most amount of IMAX footage Nolan had ever employed - the picture quality somehow, impossibly, attains a whole new level of perfection, soaking up the amazing space sequences and making for some of the best demo footage you'll likely ever see. Night Shyamalan story-like qualities to it rather than a straightforward Nolan one, and those sentiments alone most likely represent why it was probably for the best that things did not work out well with Spielberg’s initial attachment here. From director Christopher Nolan (Inception,The Dark Knight trilogy) comes the story of a team of pioneers undertaking the most important mission in human history. It didn’t hurt the film with a freshly-crowned Oscar winner by the name of Matthew McConaughey in the lead role, either. Interstellar comes to Ultra HD Blu-ray from Paramount Home Distribution featuring 2160pHEVC encoded video that has an average bitrate of 66 Mbps and lossless DTS-HD 5.As they approach for docking the short bursts of the engines thrusters in the silence of outer space result in ostensible LFE thumps that sound and feel great. The extras are exactly the same as on the earlier Blu-ray release, but it's still a great selection.

Although my score does not reflect the not-so perfect nature of the film, rest assured, I had to strap on a pair of Gene Simons sized balls to change for the third time now so that it’s P-E-R-F-E-C-T to me. Inside the black, eco-vortex case with glossy slipcover, the triple-layered UHD100 disc sits comfortably opposite a Region Free, BD50 copy. Note: The original version of this review incorrectly stated that this UHD was derived from the camera negative. Life on Cooper’s Farm – We get a look at the location of the farm (in Canada, not the Mid-West), the immense corn field that was actually planted (and later sold, which turned a profit) as well as some of the accruements of the Cooper place. The story of Interstellar has to do with the same old subject worn over and over in the world of science fiction, the doom and gloom of our planet.

If you’re a fan of Interstellar and are set up for Ultra HD Blu-ray, this is a must have for your collection. To go into full detail about all the nuances would take forever and I certainly don’t want to spoil the plot for those that haven’t seen it. Glad to see 4K's releasing along side the BRD copies on new films so it's only on the older films being re-worked and that I'm interested in that I take the hit to wallet for the double dip. So I guess you can say the prologue of the story here lasts about 45 minutes before we even blast off into space with Matt’s character, Cooper, who has been chosen to lead a mission to “save” the world. Shooting in Iceland: Miller’s Planet/Mann’s Planet – The two planets in the film share a common Earth-Bound country in Iceland.

The Simulation of Zero-G – Gravity plays a huge role in the film and has multiple repercussions, though this is more focused on the actors’ and how they dealt with varying degrees of gravity. The yellow ring circling Gargantua dazzles and illuminates the 2160p video with sumptuous brilliance and energy while showing light rays of fiery orange in the outer areas. That's a whole lotta movie," gasped my wife after her first viewing of Christopher Nolan's Interstellar.

At startup, viewers are taken directly to a static screen with the usual selection along the bottom and music playing in the background, which stops after about a minute. The 103 third parties who use cookies on this service do so for their purposes of displaying and measuring personalized ads, generating audience insights, and developing and improving products. Cosmic Sounds (HD, 13:40) — As usual when it comes to the creative process of scoring, I just couldn’t get enough of this remarkable featurette. I didn't like the theatrical colours, personally and prefer something a bit warmer) It wasn't as yellow or green as th Superb specular highlights provide the edges of the marine robots with a dazzling, realistic shine while various light sources radiate with a tighter, revealing glow. I did very much enjoy learning about how all the multiple projectors were employed during the shoot to simulate the galaxy and reflections in the astronaut’s helmets.
