About this deal

I’m not the kind of photographer who likes to carry a lot of things with me on a day-to-day basis. I like to only bring what I’ll need with me. If you have one of the Peak Design Capture Clips, they can also be attached to the side of the bag easily as well – it’s great they’ve factored all of this together! All these organizational features make using the Sling a breeze. When using it primarily as a camera bag, I find it very easy to store accessories like batteries, and change batteries or lenses using one hand, with the bag acting as a temporary ‘desk’. I feel that the Everyday Sling is a perfect balance of all of the above. It’s not a bulky or an over padded build. It feels purposefully designed – and it fits that so wonderfully.

The materials inside the bag are soft to touch and it feels padded enough to not have to worry about your gear inside. If, for example, I’m just headed out running errands or venturing out with my wife and friends, I like to carry the Everyday Sling and nothing else. Most of the time I use just one with my Sony A7iii , or both if I am using the bag to transport my Mavic Pro .The hardware is made fromanodised aluminium and stainless steel, the zippers are smooth and don’t ever snag. Peak Design started as a photography gear brand, so you’ll definitely see this as the main use case. The Sling’s internal foldable walls are absolutely designed for storing lenses and other photography gear.

Since travel blogging is my job, I carry my camera with me virtually everywhere I go during my trips. It's better in several ways too, no metal, the leather pad is a better shoulder cushion, and the slider mechanism is more akin to the pricey Artisan & Artist straps than Peak's... It can be slid along most of the strap so there's only one, Peak's dual sliders are more cumbersome and unless you adjust both you throw the padding off center. This is what led me to the Peak Design Everyday Sling. I initially bought the 6-liter version as a gift for my partner, but soon got a 10-liter version for myself as well. This review is based on using both the 6L and 10L. Everyday Sling 10L I can fit my Sony A7iii with my Samyang 35mm f/1.4 lens , spare batteries, and an assortment of other little things I may need during that day.I’m a smaller framed guy, so often messenger and larger style sling bags (such as the Everyday Sling 10L version) can look and feel too bulky on me. The Everyday Sling 6L is best for one camera body and about two lenses. Make that just one lens if it’s a particularly big telelens, or if you shoot full-frame. Today, we’re going to take a look at the Peak Design Everyday Sling 6L (V2). We’ve already reviewed the three liter size. Basically, the 6L version is the same as the 3L version only, you know, larger by three liters. Plus, the 6L version has a tablet sleeve. The Peak Design Everyday Sling 5L feels nicely balanced on my shoulder and its rigidity gives me a lot of confidence in opening it without spilling all of my gear on to the ground while walking.

Since every videographer and photographer has different needs, it makes sense that Peak Design—a company that’s all about making premium gear specifically for videographers and photographers—offers three sizes of the Everyday Sling (V2): 3L, 6L, and 10L. Peak Design Everyday Sling 6L V2 In Detroit I looked at some ways to attach a bottle to the shoulder strap using a loop — and that will probably be my solution. There is also another way to add a bit of capacity for such items, which is to use the two attachment straps that enable you to attach some items to the bottom of the bag. I’ve found this useful for attaching a raincoat or large (e.g. 1 liter) water bottle when going on a hike. We’ve found that a purse-style of carry works the best—on your side, beneath an arm—probably because it has nowhere to slide. Peak Design Everyday Sling 6L V2 Tripod Carry Four little pouches are available for accessories. I use two for spare batteries and the other two for a UV and polarizing filter. 10L

The main compartment has a three-litre capacity (no prizes for guessing that) and has two hook-and-loop panels to position the modular folding divider. This folding divider is origami-like - it works as a vertical divider but has a folding flap, providing two smaller compartments when needed, one above the other. The UltraZips open down the sides, allowing the compartment to open wide for maximum access. Two fabric hinges prevent the compartment from falling open and spilling items onto the floor. For a small kit such as this, the three-litre capacity of the Everyday Sling is perfect. All in, the Sling and camera kit weighs only 1.5kg. There’s enough space to carry everything neatly, while the optional external storage straps allow for the occasional outing with a raincoat or tripod. Compared to the LowePro Slingshot Edge 250 AW, the Peak Design Sling has been a big upgrade in many respects. Are they only for cameras? That’s why I needed a camera bag that’s easy to carry throughout the day, allows rapid access to my camera, and with enough extra space for some essential travel items. It’s suitable for a camera with maybe one or two lenses. At least, this will leave enough breathing room if you shoot with an APS-C or full-frame camera. If you use a smaller camera system, such as Micro Four Thirds, you’ll be able to fit more. 6LAnd the Midnight and Ash colorways are both made from bluesign® certified fabrics, something we always appreciate. Speaking of environmentalism, as of January 2020, Peak Design is a designated B Corp. We’ll let the folks at B Corps explain, “Certified B Corporations are businesses that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose.” Yeah, we think it’s awesome too. Peak Design Everyday Sling 6L V2 Zippers You’ll easily be able to fit a mirrorless camera and 1-2 lenses, spare batteries, filters, and a variety of other smaller accessories in the Peak Design 5L Sling, despite it being only 5 litres in overall capacity. While the metal adjustment handles are nice looking and give a sense of quality to the strap, they are also a significant hazard to equipment for those of us who put our cameras in bags. I was constantly afraid that the handle was going to scratch a body or LCD or worse, chip a lens that had somehow been put away without a cap on. As far as I'm concerned, there is no way that the Slide should have used metal in this design. The added weight was unneeded and the danger to camera gear too great. I would love to see this exact design, but with plastic adjustment handles. What's the Bottom Line? Before we dive in—just know that your preference between the two will come down to how much stuff you want to carry. The more stuff you have, the more you’ll appreciate the extra space available in the 6L size.
