Many an enemy army has been destroyed because its general thought his flanks protected by such obstructions, only to find ranks of Imperial Guardsmen -- supported by the fearsome anti-personnel weaponry of their Chimera transports -- disgorging into the very heart of his forces.

When a new codex for a faction is released, its rules become the standard, overriding any previous versions of the rules. While there are many variants of the Chimera, there are three special variants --the Chimerax, Chimedon and Chimerro -- that are used by the Imperium. All of these variants of the Chimera retain the original's amphibious capabilities and transport capacity. The Basilisk can fire its main weapon directly at an enemy, but this means the Basilisk would have to be close to the enemy which is not good considering it is lightly armoured, instead the Basilisk will stay away from the main fighting and fire its weapon indirectly. Annihilator - The Leman Russ Annihilator includes Twin-linked Lascannons in place of the Battle Cannon, much like the Space Marine Predator "Annihilator" variant.It has weaknesses, though. The armor is mostly average, so it isn't particularly hard to penetrate, especially with premium ammunition. The mobility is also average, which although quite usable, lags behind tanks such as the [[Progetto 46]. The reload time is also slow, due to the high alpha. Vendetta - Unlike the Sky Talon variant of the Valkyrie, the Vendetta is heavily armed and is used as a tank hunter. After dropping off its precious human cargo, the Vendetta will act as heavy air support for the ground infantry.
