About this deal

Because two famous characters are killed and Superman’s family history is retconned to align with that of a certain 20th century figure who famously had one ball, although that (probably apocryphal) detail was a long way from the thing he was best known for.

The team that Batman assembles to accomplish the impossible task at the center of this story dares you to laugh at it, and there are some funny moments, but ultimately, it works. We get to see Batman work with the Justice League, assemble his own team of much lesser known heroes, put his detective skills to work on a really intriguing case, and ultimately save the world. I was not familiar with the work of Gary Whitta before this (that I can remember) but he has done a stellar job. Superman is permitted to live, so long as he is permanently depowered, which is achieved through a molecular chamber within the Fortress of Solitude.

Another Elseworlds tale, and in this case, the throughline that Batman is always Batman is the only thing consistent. When an unknown alien ship enters Earth’s atmosphere, disrupting global power and communications and plunging the planet into chaos, the world is left wondering… where is Superman when he is needed most? A decline in quality is to be expected when an artist has to work on a monthly comic but personally, I find that Robertson’s decline on this series is too steep. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.

A big draw for me for an unknown random comic that seemed on the face of it mainly just another Batman book, was that lead artist is Darrick Robertson. Batman confronts Superman at the Fortress’ center only to learn that the alien invaders had secretly been tailing him the whole time, knowing the Dark Knight would lead them to their prey. Without realizing it, I believe DC has told everyone that this title is worth less than the Imposter and that Gary Whitta is worth less than Mattson Tomlin. The final panels of Batman: Fortress have the Caped Crusader showcasing his new powers by hovering over Earth, planning not to inspire humanity but lead it, eager at the chance to make a difference in a cruel world that always seemed to endure whatever Batman could throw at it.

The most offensive moment in the comic, and probably the series as a whole, is the character assassination of Superman. I’m not sure if this is a plot hole as I don’t know how his powers work but one of Batman’s team is the new Aquakid.

There is so much Batman content out there on a regular basis, that to add another book to the pile should mean something. Gary Whitta (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) and Darick Robertson (The Boys) have joined forces to tell a brutal and shocking adventure that will turn everything you think you know about Superman upside down!We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. This distinction has resurfaced in modern comics in temporary spurts or alternate universes, from Batman gaining the powers of Black Adam during the climactic battle of Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths to his using an experimental compound to stand toe-to-toe with an evil Superman in Injustice. comic) Batman and Robin (comic) Batman and Robin Eternal (comic) Batman/Superman (comic) Batman v Superman (General Mills) Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (comic) Batman: Arkham Unhinged Batwing (comic) Catwoman (comic) Detective Comics (comic) Earth 2 (comic) Earth 2: Society (comic) Gotham Academy (comic) Gotham Academy: Second Semester (comic) Gotham by Midnight (comic) Grayson (comic) Harley Quinn (comic) Injustice: Gods Among Us (comic) Injustice: Gods Among Us: Ground Zero (comic) Justice League (comic) Justice League/Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (comic) Justice League of America (Rebirth) Mother Panic (comic) New Suicide Squad (comic) Nightwing (comic) Poison Ivy: Cycle of Life and Death (comic) Red Hood/Arsenal (comic) Red Hood and the Outlaws (comic) Robin: Son of Batman (comic) Teen Titans Go! But the concept of Batman as a Superman goes beyond just being able to shrug off gunfire and leap across Gotham’s tallest skyscrapers in a single bound.
