'Troubled Legacy: The Case of Armagh Gaol' by Chris Hamill architect and winner of the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings, (SPAB), Philip Webb Award 2018. Chris will be giving a lunchtime talk on his fascinating, award-winning project. An innovative and thought-provoking consideration of how to regenerate the contentious disused site in Armagh, and a building currently on the Heritage at Risk NI Register. #HARNI #HeritageAtRiskNIChris' project keeps the site in repair and in use, while allowing the community time and scope to consider a long term future that respects its social and architectural significance, and negotiates its troubled history. His proposal includes in-between uses of the site, temporary removable structures, and explore the opportunity to use the building as a training centre for traditional building skills. The event will include a light lunch from 12.30pm. The lecture will be from 1pm to 2pmThis event is held in partnership with the Society for Protection of Ancient Building Ireland (SPAB Ireland).
