Join The Lifeboat in launching two brand new poetry pamphlets by Caitlin Newby and Scott McKendry. Exuberant, imaginative and truly distinctive, their poetry journeys through North Belfast, France, America and beyond, taking in the multitude of the world and transforming it before your very eyes. With a diverse cast of characters, from Chagall to the RUC, St Kilda to Lenin, these poets write the weird and the wonderful with an infectious humour and emotional resonance.Caitlin NewbyBorn in Los Angeles, Caitlin has poems and translations published in Ambit, gorse, Poetry Ireland Review, and The White Review. In 2018 she was shortlisted for The White Review Poet’s Prize and in 2019 was named the inaugural Bookfinders Chair in Creative Writing at the Seamus Heaney Centre. She is also the poetry editor of The Tangerine, a magazine of new writing based in Belfast.Scott McKendryCurrently working towards a PhD at the Seamus Heaney Centre for Poetry, Queen’s University Belfast., Scott’s poems have appeared in the anthologies The future always makes me so thirsty: New Poets from the North of Ireland (2016) and Happy Browsing: An Anthology in Praise of Bookfinders (2018) as well as the following journals: Poetry Ireland Review, Magma, The Tangerine, Public Illumination Magazine, The Manchester Review, Cyphers and The North. Some of his work was selected for a feature on new northern Irish poetry in the winter 2018 issue of Virginia Quarterly Review.
