About this deal

A lot of people loved this book and found the story inspirational and you might be one of those people. We begin the book with our main character, Kate Sedgewick arriving in Minnesota and about to start college. I don’t want to spoil the story for anyone so I’m just going to take some time to talk about the characters. I can’t say enough good things about this book and the utterly emotional story encapsulated within its pages.

I hope that when I begin to feel sorry for myself for things I cannot change I look on the Bright Side. She falls in love with a guy, who's a father in his 21 years, whose wife died 4 years ago, meaning he had his daughter when he was 15-16. I can see Kate, Clayton, and Shelly dancing to this song, because I can’t sit still when I listen to it.My favorite part of the book was seeing all the lives Kate touched and brightened, and I say this with the most sincerity I have: I truly am looking forward to Gus’s story. When the book starts Kate is about to start college in the small town of Grant Minnesota; leaving behind her best friend Gus and the sunny skies of San Diego, California. It’s a plan that doesn’t include love, but somewhere along the way Keller Banks entered her life and threatens to shoot that plan to pieces. I hope to hear more from Gus and the rest of the guys from Rook and I would love to find out what becomes of Keller and the others.

Her job was to be his best friend and to make sure he achieved everything he could and she did it all with a smile on her face and his very best intensions in her heart. I don't have a personal experience in the subject matter so I don't know how I would cope being at either side of the story, but I know for sure it requires a lot of strength for all involved.Kate has a best friend named Gus, who is a rock star, who loves her, but doesn't say shit, because she deserves someone better. It will make you see the best of things, and want to scream at the top of your lungs at the same time. It's bo-ring with all the typical cheesy stuff, including the gay (best) friend, the slutty roommate, the new love interest and the badass friend who is nothing like her but they get along. She’s quick-witted, endlessly passionate about music, the first to offer a smile, and the kind of loyal that most friends only dream about. I’m a total music nut too, but I’m more of a nu-soul, jazz, a little hip hop type of girl, so this book in addition to opening up my heart to a set of unforgettable characters, has opened my ears to a whole new set of incredible bands.

I'm sure the nations leading psychologists might theorize that my "issues" with female characters probably stem from a place of jealousy. Those things lead to big things and small things and more monumental things, but ultimately they lead you to Kate and Keller. It’s about the man she doesn’t want to fall in love with, but soon realizes that saying no to Keller Banks is like saying no to the sun.The connection between them was what first drew me into the story, and it was, to me, the constant thread that held everything together. Instead of being uplifting, I found it so incredibly sad and after finishing it, it left me in such a depressed mood.
