From someone who has not read the other books, I can confirm that you will not feel lost if you chose to read this one first. Prescott is shattered by Jade’s news and choose to deal with it in self destructive ways by focusing on football before he is ready and withdrawing from his friends however they are not about to let that happen.Heated arguments between the two turn into angry kisses and secret passionate hookups which honestly are the best steam Anna has written so far 🤭❤️‍🔥 Together they want to forget even if only for a moment and finding comfort in each other; it's so beautiful. This book picks up right where part one left off at, and man, when this author wants to pack a punch, she definitely packs it. When she's not working for a living or writing her newest book you can find her reading books, binge-watching TV shows or listening to music while she walks her shi tsu puppy Tina. Jade and Prescott are unable to be in the same space without fighting, sniping and arguing regardless of what happened onthwir summer holiday their simmering hatred has only heated up. And while neither of them would deny, at least to themselves, that they are attracted to the other, they are also convinced that they hate each other.

Prescott for his side, it's recovering from an injury and is not easy, he has to give his best when he simply can not do more, he can’t let his team down, and he has to give it his best. Their love is toxic, they gravitate towards each other, their love is insurmountable, despite that Anna gave me a happy ending. We first met Jade a few years ago (at least, if you read her brother’s book right when it came out, you did) in “Kiss to Forget,” which followed her brother, Nixon, and his love interest, Yasmin.It’s been so cool to see all of the characters grow throughout the series, and getting to see everyone from the previous books live out their happily ever afters since they’re all side characters in this book was so sweet. What I love more about this book is that the main characters are dealing with different situations, we get to see how they face it and I wonder how can they survive it as the story progress. One of my favorite things about this story is that it’s dual POV, so you can see how each side is feeling as the story progresses and you get insight into the secrets and pain that is going on inside each character. The way she survived every curve ball thrown towards her, the way she managed herself and took care of herself first was so raw and so stunningly portrayed. There’s a lot to unpack with this first half of the duet, but it was attention-grabbing from start to finish that I’m now eagerly anticipating the next book.

Every time that she and Prescott are together the sparks of antagonism fly until the sparks ignite into a fire that neither can deny.
