About this deal

The Hearth witchery though, which my blog is even named for, doesn’t get discussed a whole lot – except in passing. Although I had never heard of Hearth witchery when I was child, if I had, I could have told you straight up that I could and would never be such a thing. O produto chegou dentro do tempo estimado e em perfeitas condições, o livro está direitinho, no entanto a caixa onde veio embalado estava um pouco rasgada no canto. As an author, Anna Franklin is one of dozens that started out during the witchcraft publishing boom of the 90s.It offers a lot of sage (heh) advice about allergies and the dangers of using herbs in medical quantities, which is very reassuring to see, as it’s necessary to point out that ‘natural’ doesn’t always mean ‘safe’. It examines the most common herbs and spices used in the kitchen, providing notes on culinary, medicinal and cosmetic uses. The book contains sections on cooking for the sabbats, making your own wine, cider and beer, preserving, making your own household, personal and cosmetic products as well as natural dyes, what to grow in your garden, healing herbs and remedies, essential oils, incense, magical herbalism and correspondences. As someone who has been practicing myself for over 20 years (American Primitive Witchery which is non-Wiccan and focuses more on hearth witchery, hedge witchery, the Crooked Path, and American folk magic) it's hard to find reading material that stokes that inner fire in me when I need it and I'm happy to report that Hearth Witch did just that.

I acknowledge the resilience of the First Nation, Inuit and Metis people who live and work here in the present, in a system of inequity and oppression. Necessarily this is only an introduction to the vast subject of herb lore, and the bibliography contains pointers to more in-depth studies (including Anna Franklin s own tome Herb Craft). Sewing kit: I really like making little sachets of herbs for various spells, and as a kitchen witch I’m always fixing and making things.
