About this deal

Josh and Essie meet and they fall in love over jokes about nuts that are not at all funny and just feel cringe as hell. What he isn’t prepared for is the village of Good Winter’s resident coven- particularly the flame-haired Essie who has an icy touch and a preference for dunagarees.

The coven have cast a protection spell over the house making it untraceable, so it comes as a shock when the gorgeous Josh Hopkins Henderson arrives on their doorstep to tell them he is their new landlord and they owe rent since the 1700s!I assume this is this book attempt at being dark, but honestly just makes it seem like a parody of itself.

When a young American lawyer, Josh, turns up to collect the rent from Beldam House after inheriting a lot of property in the village, he and Essie are instantly attracted to each other. But it was done fairly well and I enjoyed the different situations the characters find themselves in.So many sentences were written in confusing ways, and sometimes I couldn’t figure out what was going on! I'm not normally one for light reading but I thought I'd try something relaxing for a change and as it is spooky season, I thought I'd give this a go. Hex Appeal was the perfect book to kick off Autumn with - fun, flirty and oh so witchy, it was such a joy to read.

Hex Appeal is a quirky fast-paced magical romance story with characters that are so easy to love and a house that is so enchanting. Don't worry, it's later revealed that she turned her mom's tit into ice when she was a baby and also her orgasm froze a penis and now she absolutely cannot orgasm "because I can't control myself, Josh". It was long enough that there could’ve been a better developed world and a tighter plot instead the author chose to tell the same story a couple of times over. I sold my first book in 2005 and since then have published many award-winning paranormal and contemporary romances and light-hearted mysteries, including the popular Sophie Green series. Essie Winterscale lives in a huge and ever-changing house in the village of Good Winter, in deepest, darkest Essex. While I liked some of these plot lines, my overall reading experience of this book was chaotic and unenjoyable.
