About this deal

Meanwhile, the 17-year-old Triple Cask Moine is an experimental expression that marries three peated single malts. Bottled at 52.6% ABV, it was inspired by Bunnahabhain master blender Julieann Fernandez's love for rum-raisin ice cream.

Mac-Talla, meaning "Echo" in Scottish Gaelic, is a range of single malt Scotch. It is not a distillery itself but rather a brand owned by the independent bottler, Morrison Scotch Whisky Distillers - a family-owned company that has been involved in the whisky industry for generations. The Bunnahabhain distillery is known for its connection to the sea, as the distillery is situated in a remote area on the Islay coast. The whisky contains the aroma and flavour of the salty sea air from where it is aged, and there is also a recognisable tone from the sherry cask. Created by distilling fermented grains, the Scottish have been distilling whisky since the 12 th century and this rich liquor soon became a firm favourite amongst royalty. In the 18 th century a tax was imposed on alcohol production in Scotland, leading to many distilleries looking for creative ways to avoid detection. This led to much of the production taking place at night and led to the term ‘moonshine.’

Williams & Humbert Canasta’s Nose

On the palate, the aroma is complemented by the taste of sweet and tangy apricots, with a hint of nutmeg that adds depth and complexity. Sherry is best known as a dry fortified wine. Indeed, port tends to get the limelight where sweet fortified wines are concerned. You can also learn about it with our guides to port wine. The use of Canasta casks gives Bunnahabhain the best of both worlds with layers of spicy Oloroso and rich and sweet Pedro Ximenez.

Whisky is as synonymous with Scotland as tartan and golf, and a club as prestigious as Dundonald Links deserves a whisky tasting room to match this traditional pastime. The Finesse of a Fragrant Furnace is a Bowmore single malt aged for 18 years in a second-fill bourbon hogshead, and a Spanish oak Oloroso hogshead.Otherwise, I would recommend something similar to the Plasencia Reserva Original as a good cigar pairing. It’s spicy and although it does have character, it doesn’t have too much body. Therefore, it’s capable of contrasting the wine’s flavours without overwhelming it.
