There were certainly a fair few nervous giggles among our team when we played, but we loved every heart racing moment of it! Hallows Hill was played as an exploration of an eerie abandoned house, locally infamous for being haunted. Once inside, we resolved a decades-old mystery through investigation and solid puzzling. Almost every puzzle felt like it really belonged in the space and helped not just to move the story along but also to help tell the story. The narrative was enhanced by amazingly well-planned and executed cinematography. I was dazzled by how carefully crafted and polished Hallows Hill was, and I look forward to this company’s next offering. Designed with the player in mind, it’s easy to navigate the world of Hollow with puzzles designed for both the novice, and hardcore player. You’ve been mistakenly put on Ward 13, and that is a place you do NOT want to be! Can you manage to work out how to sneak your way out before you end up in the same position as the patients before you? If you know Pretty Little Liars, think Radley vibes… A creepy theme, but rest assured that you can enjoy this safe in the knowledge that there aren’t going to be any jump scares to throw you off your puzzling! This game was highly inspired by the classic 90's survival horror games. However, this game has no combat or survival mechanics whatsoever and your only method of surviving is trying to escape the enemy. Likewise the length of this game is understandably nowhere near those games. I chose to rather keep it shorter and tighter than trying to artificially lengthen it, which would have only resulted in a leaned out and milder experience. On the delivery of the horror theme, I chose to leave out all the jump-scares and opted for constant oppressing and dark atmosphere.
