Overall, I found Bristol 1350 very playable and it has seen its turn at our table many times since we first played it, making it GeekDad Approved and worthy of a place on your bookshelf and game table! In this delightful romp of deduction and deception, a few players secretly start with the Black Death. Yeah, sounds like they prioritized actually finishing the licensed ones to me by giving up on the other ones (and asking for additional money).

This is great if you find yourself with cough and chills cards, and you want to lower your symptom score to stay healthy. The fact that a game about the Black Death elicits as much joy and laughter as this thing routinely does probably speaks volumes about myself and my friends. They suggest using the side showing the turn actions if you have any new people playing the game, and the side showing the character special actions if you want more challenge and variety.These coins are taken by a player when they play an “Alms” remedy card, and they can choose to hold on to the coin or pass it to another player. Like Paul above, I wasn’t a fan of Tortuga either but as a Bristolian of 15 years I’m hoping for a better experience from this one. One nice touch that Facade Games brought to Bristol 1350 is multiple ways of extending and changing the game to enhance replayability.The signalling thing is a key point, but as you say Dan over 15 minutes it’s hopefully going to be forgivable.

If you are unlucky enough to have your new symptoms add to six or more, you are now infected with the Black Death. As social distancing eventually evaporates and groups of any size can finally gather together once more, Bristol 1350 will frequently hit our table and have us eager to retread its infectious fun. Yeah, you can lose arms and legs, there are spinning floor blades and pit traps, lootable containers on the board. But before the pandemic, I only had one monthly group that would be interested in social deduction games, and the hosts had their first kid last year. I had noticed the increasing mentions about the rise of fascism in other countries (1930's) as the show went on, with the usual talk of not needing to worry about it.

These cards progress from low value symptoms like a cough or a headache all the way to the dreaded buboes themselves. If symptoms add up to 6 or more at any time after the initial turn, that player has the plague for the rest of the game, and their new objective is to make sure no healthy players win.
