About this deal

Nguyen, Khoi (August 31, 2018). "Casio F91W Review - Retro Digital Sport Watch". Gentleman Within (review) . Retrieved August 28, 2019. Both watches have the Casio module 593 and all, I mean ALL, of the functions are the same. So you get a 1/100 stopwatch (max count at 59:59.99) with split time function, single daily alarm, hourly alert and a green LED for illumination. The numbers only tell half the story, though. Where the ’84’ really shrinks on the wrist compared to the ’91’ is the design and taper of the resin strap. While both have lugs widths of 18mm, the strap on the ’84’ tapers more dramatically and narrows to 13.6mm at the end. On the ’91’, the calipers return a reading of 15.8mm. More than a dozen detainees were cited for owning cheap digital watches, particularly "the infamous Casio watch of the type used by Al Qaeda members for bomb detonators." The thin grooves on both the dial and strap are also very old school. Even the slightly different case shape of the F-84W makes it feel more retro than the F-91W.

The design has quite a few noticeable changes from the F-91W. It has less text, and while some of the labeling is the same, it appears in different places on the F-84W.As mentioned, both have lug widths of 18mm but the ’84’ has a more traditional lug design. With the ’91’, the lugs are pretty much non-existent and should you decide the swap out the straps, it may run the risk of looking a little oddly flush against the case.

Unfortunately, not everyone can actually afford to roll around in a JDM car. Fortunately, a JDM watch is well within the reach for most of us.My wrists are about 6.3” around, and the F-84W is just the right size for me. If anything, it’s actually a little on the small side. Beschizza, Rob (August 14, 2023). "Sensor Watch, a replacement board for the legendary Casio F-91W wristwatch". Boing Boing . Retrieved October 4, 2023. The mode button lets you switch between the alarm, stopwatch, and timekeeping modes. Both the alarm and stopwatch are easy to use, though it may take a few uses for the button layout to become second nature.

In the F-91 W manufactured in Japan like other models of the F series, such as the F-84w, does not work to apply the right button and see the word CAsio. Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) model. Uses the same 593 module, but the case's design is more similar to the older F-28W and F-87W. It has lugs instead of an embedded strap. There's retro, and then there's really retro. Where 1980s Casio digital watch designs are concerned, this is as retro as it gets.JIm on Quit Accepting, Start Hating – Why Brand Snobs and Replica Watches do NOT Belong In This Community! I have a Casio F-28W. Mine is in fairly good shape, but the resin strap crumbled apart years ago, hence the NATO strap. I did the same with the F-84W since I know that strap would suffer the same fate at some point.
