Since then, I've been fortunate enough to work with literally thousands of people in the world of education. Discover the joy of reading with us, your trusted source for affordable books that do not compromise on quality. Really helpful for beginning (and possibly established teachers) to get a foundation for behaviour management.

Your first meeting with any class offers you the chance to sow the seeds for an easy year, or take the first step on the road to disaster. After qualifying as a primary school teacher, she taught in a number of different secondary schools in London and Bristol. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. The section on critical thinking includes logical and creative approaches without trying to categorize them rigidly. Putting it earlier might have encouraged people consider accessibility as a fundamental part of classroom management. There are some great practical hints and tricks in this book and I'm looking forward to trying some of them out in my own classroom in the future (if we ever get back there).

This is for my uni course (as predicted my reading has hit a wall when it comes to fiction at the moment). Sue has written for many teaching publications, including the TES and Nursery Education, and she had her own series, 'Manage that Class' on Teachers TV. As you can imagine, with a fruit cocktail in one hand and the book in the other, I wasn’t up for tackling anything too heavy. We take pride in offering a wide selection of used books, from classics to hidden gems, ensuring there? The author gives suggestions for structuring and scaffolding evaluations, such as " find three good points about the work," giving students a rubric, modeling evaluative questions(Does it make sense? Teachers are qualified and smart professionals who have been trained in understanding the psychology of children. However, I would have preferred a book more focused on the primary age group as most of the strategies/problems/situations discussed were secondary-based. For example, the chapter on why poor behaviour occurs was Chapter 8, while the chapter on First Lessons -- a more specific topic -- was early on. The latest and greatest edition of the classic Getting the Buggers to Behave, this behaviour management bible has long been a firm favourite with trainees, early career teachers and experienced staff alike.

With 5 years of teaching experience, I realised that I had a lot of tips and advice that might help those teachers experiencing difficulties with 'getting the buggers to behave'. Provides teachers with a range of strategies for motivating pupils of various ages in modern foreign languages. I think the best thing about this book is the number of practical, real life examples used to illustrate almost every point. After experiencing some challenging behaviour in my class this year, I thought I'd have a read of this to see if there were any useful tips I could try out.

The ideas and advice given are based on common sense observations and strategies that have worked for me. I was nice enough and yet some of the stuff visited in me by teachers seems to come directly from this book.

Covering a range of issues spanning behaviour management, lesson structure, resource preparation and narratives in the classroom, the book is a blueprint for becoming a particular kind of teacher - one who has high expectations, a concern for pupil well-being, and a knack for ushering learners into more effective learning. She has written numerous bestselling education and parenting books, which have been translated and published around the world. It’s quite a long list –‘ be definite, be aware, be calm and consistent, give them structure, be positive, be interested, be flexible, be persistent, engage them‘– and you may start to panic, but the detail and case studies that follow show how an understanding of these ground rules might help us in our first few weeks in the classroom (I’m addressing fellow trainees here). She is an expert in behaviour management and she has experience teaching at nursery, primary and secondary schools. This book is rich and realistic: rich in the array of strategies and examples that work, and realistic in that it is based on vivid examples of how youngsters misbehave. Sue Cowley is an expert on behaviour management, and on creative approaches to teaching and learning. Some of them seem like common sense now, but I imagine when we’ve got 30 children to manage, some of that common sense might fly out of the window… maybe writing this list out on the back of a notepad will make a good reminder. Very helpful in providing snippets of supporting and contrasting arguments for my behaviour essay, although it doesn't focus on any particular models or theories and is mostly advice and opinion.
