Queer as Spoke: The SLAM - The 343 - Belfast

Ohhh wham! Slam! Thank you Ma'am!That's right, we're doing it! Our first ambitious foray into the world of competitive poetry is happening because you've all gotten so amazing I think it's time to push you that little bit more.Instead of our regular open mic we will instead be hosting a Slam. If you've never attended a slam before the rules are generally as follows:-There are 3 rounds-Everyone who enters performs in the first round. You have a strict (strict!) time limit of three minutes per poem-A panel of judges scores the poets on both their poem and their performance-The top poets from that round go through to be judged again-The top poets from the second round go through to the final-A winner is crownedSo everyone should come with three poems prepared in case they get through; believe in yourself! In a "Normal" slam there are rules about no music, props, etc. but this is Queer as Spoke! You are encouraged to go all fucking out if you think it will help your performance (but don't be spending too much money on this like, no rich wan is waltzing in to win this with a full pyrotechnics display)The winner will be crowned the Queer Slam Champion of Belfast and all will love them, and despair!---Queer as Spoke is an open mic night intended as a safe space where Queers and other marginalised voices can read and perform to an audience of peers.Since we often touch on sensitive and difficult subjects, the 343 has a green room where anyone can go to have a moment to themselves.£3 donation at the door or pay what you can!Byob but NO GLASS
