About this deal

In this post I’m going to show you how to make luscious soft Christmas peppermints, also known as Butter Mints. They’re perfect for Christmas or any time of year. Butter Mints? What are They?

I’ve always been a fan of these light meltaway mints because they dissolve on the tongue. Peppermint is a favorite flavor, as I mentioned above, but I’m not a huge fan of hard peppermint discs. Give me the soft ones any day. Christmas Butter Mint IngredientsThis is one of those easy candy recipes you’re going to make again and again! Talk about a great sweet treat. Gluten Free Brownies with Mint Chocolate: If you love a gooey brownie but you’ve sworn off flour and other glutens, this is the recipe for you! These luscious brownies are heavy on the chocolate and light on the things that aren’t good for you. Best of all, they’re loaded with minty goodness. After all the mints have been piped, then it’s time to let them dry on the counter for at least 4 hours or until firm. The larger the mint, the longer it will take for them to dry. For your convenience, I’ve included shop-able ad links to some of the products used to make this recipe. Disclosure policy available here. Divide The Dough: Place the dough onto powdered sugar-covered parchment paper and divide it into three equal parts. Create a shallow well in the center of two of the dough balls and add red food coloring to one, green food coloring to the second, and leave the third one white.

My recipe makes around 3.5 cups of butter mints and I love how they look in the light soft yellows that emulate the butter flavor. So easy to make at home, we love baby shower yellow, but feel free to customize for the holidays (liked red and green for Christmas) or a nice traditional soft mint green for your candy. When coloring the mint dough, start with a small amount of the coloring since you are only tinting a small amount of dough. Add additional food coloring until you get the desired shade. I used gel food coloring. Be sure to separate the layers with a piece of wax paper.Label the container so that you know the use-by date. Why We Love This Recipe Timing: This is a simple recipe to make, with just a few minutes of prep time. Though it does require a bit of planning because the mints will need time to harden in the fridge. So plan for about 4 hours total time. You can speed up the process a bit by using the freezer instead of the fridge for chilling. You’ll find a full list of my other peppermint offerings at the bottom of this post, but let’s talk about Butter Mints. Melt-Away Mints Christmas mints provide a festive flavor to any holiday feast. Paired with a delicious dessert or enjoyed solo, these buttery, peppermint-flavored treats are always a crowd-pleaser. Pro Tip #1: If you are using red coloring, be sure to use – no taste red, otherwise, the regular red coloring is very bitter.
