The Folk Revival and its Effect on Piping Since the 1960s/70s. With Finlay MacDonald. In this illustrated workshop, Finlay will look at how the music, context, and image of piping has changed over the last 40 years. He will delve into the early use of pipes in the modern folk band, looking at bands such as the Tannahill Weavers, the Battlefield Band, and Ossian.Finlay will introduce the major players and composers that have emerged, such as gordon Duncan, Fred Morrison and Martyn Bennett, showing their personal approaches to playing and composing for pipes within what is now a truly global and progressive part of the tradition in Scotland and beyond.
