The Three 4G Plus Hub comes with unlimited data from Three on a 24 month pay monthly contract, with no upfront costs. There aren’t currently any pay as you go plans available. Other than having to put a SIM card in this is all similar to the setup of most routers – except without the engineer visit that usually comes first to get the internet itself up and running. What speeds can you get with Three 5G and 4G broadband? It’s important to note, we live in the perfect area to use the 4G Plus Hub. The nearest 4G mast is very close by, in an elevated position, and we also live in an area with very little 4G congestion.The Three 4G Plus Hub is a 4G router sold in the UK by Three, that allows you to get online. But rather than connecting to the internet using your landline, it uses 4G signal, just like your mobile phone. Those are tiny issues though, and given that they carry the same price tag at the time of writing there really seems no reason not to go for the better model right now, unless you particularly want the freedom of a 30-day plan.
Contract lengths of 12 months and 24 months are available if customers want to sign up for a longer period at a cheaper rate, but it's also possible to take a 1-month rolling mobile broadband plan with Three. Yes, all of the devices listed above are available with unlimited data on Three. Does Three offer 5G home broadband? Given the speeds on offer from the Three 4G Hub, and how easy this device is to set up, we think this router is very good value for money.If you live in an area still mostly served by 4G, you're likely to be offered a choice of two units. The first is a portable Huawei Wi-Fi hub which is a small, almost palm-sized mobile hub and as suitable for use at home plugged into the mains as it is on the go. In our experience, battery life can reach about 8 hours (although we'd expect that to vary widely depending on use). It's quite nifty and certainly won't add much in the way of clutter.
Most other core specs are similar though, with both routers supporting dual-band 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi and up to 64 simultaneous device connections. Once you’re set up, the 4G Plus Hub (which is a rebranded Sercomm LTE2122GR router) will create a Wi-Fi network, just like a regular home broadband router, that you can connect your devices to. The Hub also has two Ethernet ports, allowing you to connect computers and games consoles with a cable, if you’d like to. Software-wise there’s a web interface for changing the Three 4G Hub’s various settings – though this is something you’ll have to access from a separate device, such as a PC. Alternatives Although Three have moved on from their customer service troubles in 2014 when they were fined for their handling of customer complaints, their current quarterly complaint figures are the worst of all the major pay monthly mobile customers.Our verdict: we rate the Three 4G Hub 4.5 out of 5. It offers fast speeds, good Wi-Fi signal, and great value for money. However, you can get better speeds for roughly the same price with the Three 5G Hub. You can connect your TV Box pro using Internet mode or by using an aerial. The TV Box Mini only connects using Internet Mode. Some channels that are available in aerial mode may not be available in internet mode. It is not possible to watch recordings made in Internet mode if you switch to aerial mode. Existing TV Box Pro customers that move from aerial mode to Internet mode may lose any subsequent recordings and settings. It’s a bit of a hassle to find the perfect spot in your house for it, to get the best possible speeds.

The Three 4G Hub has two antenna ports, which you can plug in external antennas, if you choose to do so. Three's 5G network isn't as widespread as their 4G network, so customers looking at 5G mobile broadband options may be more limited. With 5G and 4G home broadband the signal is sent wirelessly from a nearby mast to your router, whereas with fixed line broadband the signal is sent through wires all the way to your router. In either case, once your router receives a signal it then sends it out (usually wirelessly) to the rest of your devices so they can get online. Upload speeds meanwhile top out at 100Mbps, and the Three 4G Plus Hub supports Category 18 LTE, which helps ensure it can make the most of Three’s 4G network.
