About this deal

I've read numerous books about (re)connecting with nature, many very good indeed, but Dr Ruth Allen's Grounded is the stand-out work. Over the years I've read to a lot of kids, with a lot of kids, discussed books in classrooms, and in book clubs, so when reviewing I often share what kids think or what I imagine kids will think, and I usually acknowledge when I'm being overly critical as a reviewer, but this book I will tell you, I did not read through the intended middle grade lens, I read it as a 42 year old seasoned reader.

And of course high jinks entail, ventures into off limits areas possibilities of missing their flights, worried parents, and just a whole lot of fun. But ultimately this is a matter of personal taste, and even I, with my cynic’s eye and ear, was drawn into a book that felt like the kind of easy-going conversation about old ways between old places that might be had with a friend on a long country walk.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the early digital copy of this unique, multi-authored book you don't want to miss! Going to be gifting this to younger cousins/ friend’s kids for future Eid gifts or birthdays 🥰 This was such a wholesome and fun book.

Along the way, she encountered an out-of-season, out-of-time atmosphere that haunted every landscape, allowing her to explore themes such as alienation, our perceived sense of 'home' and the isolation of travel. It's all just a bit *too much* yet provides the humor, adventure, and heart that's at the core of any fast-paced middle grade. When a thunderstorm grounds all flights following a huge Muslim convention, four unlikely kids are thrown together. I understand I can change my preference through my account settings or unsubscribe directly from any marketing communications at any time. This is an area I walk to every morning with my dog, it is somewhere I have learnt so much about simply by observing the landscape and wildlife on a daily basis.Whilst reading it, I just imagined a calm soothing voice guiding me through different stages of; stillness, solitudes and gratitude. Seeking that lost connection, James Canton takes us on a journey across ancient England: from stone monuments to sacred groves, places of pilgrimage and sites of religious worship.

Lovely for dipping into, but the photography presents a very idealistic impression of the natural world. Ruth Allen is a is a counsellor and eco-psychotherapist, specializing in outdoor practice and nature connection, and has a PhD in geology.and lots of amazing spoken word and rapping from Feek (this kid has my whole heart), this book is one hundred percent going to be a favorite on your shelf! I especially loved Feek's chapters, which were imbued with such heart and will undoubtedly resonate with many kids. Even though people spend an inordinate amount of time looking at our phones or other forms of screens at the moment, one of the things that we have learnt in the past few years is just how much we as a species are dependent on nature. I daresay our ability to thrive in the future is proportional to the number of people—legislators and otherwise—who incorporate into their lives the habits outlined in Grounded. Four kids meet at an airport for one unforgettable night in this middle-grade novel by four bestselling and award-winning authors—Aisha Saeed, Huda Al-Marashi, Jamilah Thompkins-Bigelow, and S.
