The album reached number three in the UK, and was an unexpected hit in the US, hitting number 14 and selling over five million copies worldwide. Originally named 'Gorilla', the band underwent some changes before settling on their current lineup.

Guests include Roots Manuva on the brilliantly schizophrenic 'All Alone', Shaun Ryder on the monotonous, but perversely intersting, 'DARE' and Dennis Hopper doing an odd 'Sunscreen' eco-rambling in the otherwise brilliantly titled 'Fire Coming Out Of A Monkey's Head'. Infectious old school hip-hop rhythms, rhymes and effects courtesy of Deltron 3030's Kid Koala and Del Tha Funkee Homosapien (Russel) are combined with Albarn's passion for chugging lo-fi and edgy melodies to create a seemingly raw but ultimately slick blend of styles which is all their own. Over time, Gorillaz has had some former members including Del The Ghost Rapper (vocals performed by Del Tha Funkee Homosapien) who was sent to the afterlife following their first album.But the surprises do not stop there: Ibrahim Ferrer 's appearance on "Latin Simone" could have come straight from Buena Vista Social Club but for the obvious Blur-influenced piano style, while the spooky intro to "M1 A1" wouldn't sound out of place on Michael Jackson's Thriller . After cleaning and preparing both LPs I ripped them to digital using my more than adequate equipment turntable, ADC, and reciever.

Bruce Springsteen's first new studio album in five years takes his music to a new place, drawing inspiration in part from the Southern California pop records of the late '60s and early '70s. Plenty of bad reviews for the vinyl edition, and out the packet the discs were both very dirty (photos attached before/after). Can't find anywhere better to chill and browse the fantastic vinyl selection with a beer or a coffee.It's relaxing in places (Every Plant We Reach Is Dead), childlike (Kids With Guns, Dirty Harry), or out-doing Morcheeba (November has Come). Albarn has used dour monologues before, previously using Ken Livingstone ('Ernold Same' on 'The Great Escape'). Also if you like rap sections from the Gorillaz' music, I strongly recommend the Deltron 3030 album since it's the same rapper.
