We end on, well, not a cliffhanger per se, but a flurry of activity and emotion that has me dying for the conclusion. For anyone that’s looking for a good romance comic that defies expectations and is relatively chaste, Bloom Into You is a good choice. I reject a binary being imposed on asexual/aromantic people and I think Yuu, whether intentionally by the author or not, establishes that possibility in a very realistic way. Those rob the creators of the income they need to survive and reduce the chance of manga and anime being legitimately released in English. That whole section is also amazing and even as somebody who is only slightly a Sayaka fan (my main issue being she had her chance forever and never took it, which she manages to acknowledge), it plays out so well.

When Yuu protests that criticism and says she's the same as Maki, he says they aren't playing for the same team. We're finally reaching a point where Yuu and Touko are figuring out their feelings and what they want their relationship to look like, which is so nice after so many volumes.That's when Yuu sees the beautiful student council president Nanami turn down a suitor with such maturity and finesse that Yuu is inspired to ask her for advice.

I also love the scene at the end of the first chapter in this volume, where Yuu throws herself down on her bed, head buried in her arms, and says: "I just don't know and I guess I probably never will. Every other choice makes a woman “unpure” which is why I loathe the concept of purity as a value of a woman’s worth that is still prevalent in this world. The seventh volume of Manga, containing chapters 35 to 39, was released by Dengeki Comics on April 26th, 2019 in Japan.To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. I think it may be one of the strongest volumes for that, probably the least cliche'd and more genuine. The other major aspect of this volume that I want to highlight is some very strong writing, both characters and dialogue. It's a tough thing, and we're nowhere near a final resolution in our lives, but I have to have faith.

growth/change (0-5): 2 - Touko really shows how much she's changed since the play, actually showing vulnerability around her school mates. In the morning, when Hakozaki notices, Miyako says: "I didn't trust myself in the same bed with you. Sayaka and Miyako’s friendship is one of the best things about the series for me, just so much respect between them. I was cheering for them as they raced to make this final connection, to make what we have been waiting for throughout this entire series happen.You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. Despite a lot of concern and criticism with Yuu finally confessing to Touko at the end of volume 6 and the "inevitability" of their relationship by the time the series ends in volume 8, I still think Yuu provides that representation, which I'll discuss later in this review.

I also love that Hakozaki's somewhat authoritarian personality was consistently portrayed in her younger days too. The initial parts of this instalment deal with the fall out from Yuu’s decision and Nanami’s reaction to it and it is an absolute masterclass in storytelling. And the movie resumes, with Yuu and Touko running across town to see each other and finally have their own moment. As a cherry on top, we also get Miyako and Riko's full backstory/meet-cute, which is even better than I was hoping it would be!
