Protein bars are a great healthy snack alternative when you're looking to lose weight through a calorie deficit.

Whether you’re heading from work to the gym, or you want a sweet snack that will keep you on track with your diet plan, our protein snack bars are an excellent choice. Absolutely disgusting, the company has had recent product changes and have changed the flavour of this for lower quality and they’ve also made them smaller. PhD Smart bars should impress you because they look and taste very much like your typical chocolate bar, this modern day protein bar is designed to be taken as a healthy snack throughout the day or as a pre/post workout bar. As usual, the crispies add the crunch and the thick milk chocolate coating is creamy and cracks when you take a bite.

So, with the tasting panel in place, again including our very own 4-year-old Jay Rayner, we set about trying the PhD Smart Bar! This bar is a raw, whole food combination of dates, cashew nuts, almond and cacao butter that contains 10g of plant-based protein with no artificial sweeteners or additives. The overriding comment on this one always contained the word ‘Fudge’, which is a good start for a Fudge Brownie flavoured bar. However, there is clearly and ingredient change or some ingredients source are not good enough quality. The whole point of a protein pack is for it to be taken as a healthy snack or before or after a workout.
