About this deal

May provide reassurance for an insecure or anxious child that their parents' love for them is unconditional and constant, despite the circumstances. I certainly bought it in Russian, but I wanted to find the original text to tell this book in English. This wonderful story is reproduced in a smaller format, in a decorative gift box complete with cuddly fox to make this touching story even more appealing and special. She received a travelling scholarship award to go to Milan, and worked as a freelance from 1984 onwards. A heartfelt story about the unconditional love each parent feels for their child, beautifully told and exquisitely illustrated by Kate Greenaway-nominated Debi Gliori and repackaged for a new generation to enjoy.

Unfortunately, Gliori pushes her point a bit too hard with a closing treacly analogy to the light of stars: "We may be close, we may be far,/ but our love still surrounds us. In this beautiful and lyrical picture book, we see a clever and resourceful mother prove to her child that a parents love is limitless - no matter what!

DEBI GLIORI has illustrated many beloved picture books, including Joyce Dunbar’s Tell Me Something Happy Before I Go to Sleep and Tell Me What It's Like to Be Big, along with her own No Matter What and Penguin Post. With peep-through pages throughout and an irresistibly, squishy shiny rainbow at the end, this is the perfect book to celebrate individuality in an uplifting and accessible way for little ones. But as it rapidly become one of our regular favourites, it was often our go-to book when we wanted to calm him after a busy day.

A great book to help reassure anxious or insecure children that their parents love is unconditional and no matter what, they will always be loved and cared for. In this reassuring and warm picture book the hugely talented Debi Gliori manages to treat the familiar subject of childhood worries in a very fresh, original and inventive way. DEBI GLIORI is the award-winning author and illustrator of many Bloomsbury picture books including the Alfie series, The Trouble with Dragons, Dragon Love Penguin and the bestselling No Matter What. Minor differences, for example, are in the books of Julia Donaldson (American snail asked "ride all over the world", British - "lift"). There's a butcher's diagram of a sheep on the wall, Small owns a fat stuffed bunny, the characters use candelabras even though their house is wired for electricity, they have fat bunny salt and pepper shakers on the table, they have a wood-burning stove, they have a The Fox and The Grapes illustration (from Aesop's Fables) on their wall as art, they have a sheep pen and a duck pond.I think, this book is a great helper for parents to explain to children, that parents can not love the child less or more or fall out of love with him. I would definitely use this book in a KS1 classroom linking strongly with PSHE looking into families and acceptance. As in books like Lisa McCourt's I Love You, Stinky Face, the child ups the ante with unpleasant scenarios: what if Small were some other ostensibly uncuddly creature, like a squishy bug or a crocodile?
