About this deal

Tim Weaver (born 1977) is an English writer primarily known for his crime thrillers featuring missing persons investigator David Raker. Weaver has become one of this country's most respected, bestselling crime writers, and he fully deserves to be . . . Catch him at once * Daily Mail * Some readers did not like the book and found it to be too unbelievable to be real and some found that they had to leave their brains behind when they read the book. Some found that the book takes a turn at one point in the novel into territory that makes it not believable. Some found that even after they had finished reading the book, they could not remember any specific details of what had gone on in the book. Readers found that some of the escapes that David is able to make to be a little far fetched and unlikely, given the torture that he is put through.

Ayo: Were you a reader of crime fiction before you started writing it and if so can you remember the very first crime novel that you read? Ayo: Your books make for exciting read and it is clear that an enormous amount of research has gone into them... questo lato umano del nostro eroe che lo rende più interessante, affascinante ai nostri occhi e nel quale ci si affianca e ci si “immedesima”. Tim: Absolutely. I’ve read crime fiction all my life. The very first thriller I ever read was Silence of the Lambs. I was about 14 at the time and it blew me away! Fans of the novel really enjoyed the way the author allows Raker to grow and change and you feel like you get to know him as the story goes on. Raker behaves like a real person in the novel going through things that real people go through and reacting the way a real person would. Some thought the mystery in the book was fascinating and was well built and worked the whole way through the novel to an amazing finale. Some enjoyed the way the violence was described, saying that it was a good just right and skillfully written. Some found themselves riveted to the writing and kept up until the early hours finding out what happened, and even liked how everything was concluded.Macworld – Best apps, music, films, books, TV and podcasts of 2013 listed by Apple on iTunes". macworld.co.uk//. 17 December 2013 . As the story progresses the emotional tension ramps up not only as he draws closer to solving the case but as David, haunted by the loss of his wife is faced with his growing attraction to neighbour and solicitor Liz who feels his job as a missing persons investigator stems from trying to “plug up the holes in the world”, to stop others suffering the pain, grief and helplessness he’s undergone with his wife Derryn’s death. Facing the truth of her words, David begins to put aside his loneliness and to live again, looking to the one woman who has comforted, encouraged and supported him. This is a relationship that will be interesting to follow in the other books in the series to see if it survives. This, on the one hand, kept me at the edge of my seat. On the other...REALLY DAVID?!? REALLY?! ARE YOU THAY STUPID OMG ran through my mind a lot. It was annoying. But so did OMG NO WHY?! and OH. OH SHIT. WASN'T EXPECTING THAT. But overall, there were twist and turns I expected but HOLY ENDING I did not. I thought about this quote also while reading this book, though here less figuratively but literally.

Publication Order of Standalone Novels

This was Tim Weaver’s first novel. I came to it after reading a positive review of his third novel “Vanished”. I’m sure his is a name that will become prominent in British crime fiction. In summary, the sinuous plot takes us through toe-curling and fist clenching violence scenes and we feel David Raker go through the normal vicissitudes of life as he grows. The mystery and suspense in the entire novel is awesome. Weaver's tenth book, No One Home, was again selected for the Richard and Judy Book Club on 20 February 2020 [12] and on 15 April 2021, Weaver released his first standalone novel, Missing Pieces.
