About this deal

So if you’re looking to start Custodes without any gaming context – be aware that 9 models will be make over 500 points, which we’ll discuss below in the points section. Boarding Patrol: Adeptus Custodes – Value Operate HatchwayOne or more units from your army can start to perform this action at the end of the Move Units step of your Movement phase if they are within 1" of a Hatchway. This action can be performed by any unit that is not within Engagement Range of any enemy models, even if that unit is being affected by a rule that would normally prevent it from performing actions. The action is completed at the end of your Movement phase if no enemy models are within 1" of that Hatchway. If there are any enemy models within 1" of that Hatchway, your opponent can attempt to prevent the action from being completed. If they do so, roll off with your opponent; each player adds the Strength characteristic of one of their models that is within 1" of that Hatchway to their respective scores. If you win, the action is completed; otherwise, the action fails. If completed, that Hatchway opens (if it was closed) or closes (if it was open). The Emperor’s finest are the prime bulwark against Abaddon’s nefarious schemes, and this Boarding Patrol is typical of their brutal efficiency in such matters. You’ll be able to face any foe with a highly customisable Primaris Captain in Gravis armour , five Heavy Intercessors , and 10 Assault Intercessors . The Warhammer Community team has come up with a few of our own sample lists to see what’s possible.

Underdog Bonus: If one player is the Underdog, that player starts the battle with 1 additional Command point. If you missed it, we look at the latest pricing and values of the new Warhammer 40k box sets in separate posts below: Sign up for the Warhammer Community newsletter to find out when these boxed sets are heading to release, and get ready to battle for the galaxy’s fate in the latest season of Matched Play. The new mode also pares the list of available Stratagems right down to a handful of key options – initially allowing just for Command Re-roll , Counter-offensive , and Insane Bravery . Later books will introduce an arsenal of Stratagems for each faction – and even some sub-factions – starting in Arks of Omen: Angron .*** If a unit’s minimum size is 5, you can include that unit as a minimum sized unit, or if it can include additional models, then you can do so as long as the Starting Strength of that unit is 10. The (tweaked) Agents of the Imperium ability allows Navy Breachers to join up with any IMPERIUM Boarding Patrol – appropriate, as it’s their job – and means they won’t even disrupt the Chapter playbook.

Bring the light of the Emperor to the void with Boarding Patrol: Adepta Sororitas, scouring the Arks of Omen with bolt, flame, and melta. A devout Canoness leads five Celestian Sacresants, 10 Sisters Repentia, and 10 Battle Sisters into the breach, making this a durable fighting force with plenty of power armour and some chainsword punch. Even though both Farsight and his Crisis Team both have the Fly keyword, they have special dispensation to undertake Boarding Actions. This Boarding Patrol focuses on landing a swift hammer-blow into the enemy force while the Breacher Team splits up to secure objectives. The Farsight Enclaves can do without dedicated markerlight units at close range, so spend the points you’ll save on a shoal of Tactical Drones to clog up a corridor.** If the potential target is within 9", subtract 1 from the charge roll (to a maximum of -1, regardless of how many units are in Lighting Areas with the lights off). The most important thing to say about getting started with Boarding Actions is that, unlike Kill Team, it’s not a particularly easy, beginner-friendly way of getting into the Warhammer 40,000 universe.

If a unit’s minimum size is less than 5, you can only include that unit in your Boarding Patrol if it is a minimum sized unit.

Here are all the updated Warhammer 40k Boarding Patrol box sets value and pricing in our start collecting 40k savings breakdown with the latest price increases. However, as Warhammer 40,000 is gearing up to what seems like a new edition of the game through a series of Arks of Omen campaign books, Games Workshop has launched a new way to play Warhammer 40,000 that sits between the big battles of Warhammer 40,000 and the small skirmishes of Kill Team. It’s called 40k Boarding Actions, and it lets you play small scale encounters where a handful of units fight another handful of units like a mini version of Warhammer 40,000, but it’s all taking place inside huge space hulks in narrow corridors. Feel free to offer helpful corrections, I’ll ask Jordan/Rob to look over these too to get them correct. I’m more of a painter as many of you know. What makes Kommandos an inspired choice for a Boarding Patrol is their Kunnin’ Infiltratorsability, allowing them to deploy anywhere on the board, as long as it is more than 9″ away from enemy models and deployment zone. This will give you the advantage right away – you can plop your Kommandos on unclaimed objectives out of both your and your opponent’s reach. Either that, or surprise them with the gift of Throat Slittas – meaning if you are within an inch of a terrain feature (so hug those walls tightly), add 1 to wound rolls. If you prefer to stand in the middle of a crowded corridor, you can have your Distraction Grot come out for once per battle and the Kommandos are treated as if they are within an inch of terrain, allowing you to capitalise on their unique abilities no matter where they are placed on the board.Boarding Actions does away with the Stratagems of your codex and core book, and instead replaces it with a Stratagem list of its own, as well as a short list of stratagems for each faction. Unfortunately, this set comes out at the lower end of savings in the Boarding Patrol range – but 30% off is still 30% off. Boarding Patrol: Grey Knights – Contents The Necron dynasties care not for the squabbles of lesser races – but they are keen to plunder the Arks of Omen, on the off-chance they may recover ancient heirlooms thought lost to time. The Grey Knights are classic sculpts granted, but are really showing their age, and it doesn’t help that 95% of the box is outdated like that. It’s the big heads that get me – it really is a screenshot from a bygone era. I’d love to see the Grey Knight range get the refresh they deserve so they can look eye to eye with the heretics and daemons they were engineered to hunt. As they’ll be doing the lion’s share of the damage – against many different kinds of troops – our Crisis Battlesuits have a diverse selection of weapons at their disposal, from infantry-shredding burst cannons to elite-melting fusion blasters. We’ll also prize Early Warning Overrides for their bonuses to Overwatch – extremely potent in Boarding Action games.

With the keywords Agent of the Imperium, these units can be added as auxiliaries in other Imperial armies, like Astra Militarum, Adepta Sororitas or Space Marines. However, being all the units (bar the assassin) were built for Kill Team, they may not do much for you when those armies already have units with similar functions. This is a very specialised box made thematically for Boarding Actions, and I can see this appealing more to Kill Team players who want to get their hands on some rarer units. Taking place in the cramped corridors of drifting space hulks, orbital stations, and other embattled voidcraft, this new take on Warhammer 40,000 sees small armies fighting desperate close-range battles in tight confines, around deadly corners, and through chokepoint doors. Since it’s his first foray with the new XV-86 Supernova battlesuit, we’ll start with the Boarding Patrol. Swiftstrike Boarding Team At 470 total points, this box brings you very close to the 500 point threshold required for a Boarding Actions army list. By turning one of your Rubric Marines into an Aspiring Sorcerer, and then giving a couple marines Soulreaper Cannons or Warpflamers, you’ll meet the 500 point limit with ease. The release date is 2 days before Games Workshop’s 2023 Price Increase (average 6% increase) which comes into place on Monday, March 6th 2023This one is strange because a lot of the value comes from the Plague Marines, and considering the reinforcements box is so expensive for three minis; it’s hard to say. Apart from these general special rules, the game mode has many other exceptions from the 40K ruleset too numerous and specific to mention here, but some examples are that Indirect weapons now have to be able to see their targets, eligibility of targets in combat is calculated somewhat differently to discourage players taking too much advantage of the different distance rules mentioned above, and that, as also mentioned further above, many faction-specific rules now work quite differently.
